Job Description

The Water Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Electrical Designer to support design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout Southern California. This position may be based in either our Orange County or Los Angeles offices.

The successful candidate will support multidisciplinary project teams in the development of electrical design documents and BIM models for water treatment plants, wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, conveyance systems, reservoirs, and related infrastructure projects.

The candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and coordinating electrical design drawings, BIM models, and construction documents using Revit, AutoCAD, and other approved project software.
  • Prepare electrical site plans, conduit plans, equipment layouts, one-line diagrams, power plans, lighting plans, schedules, and installation details for construction.
  • Coordinating with electrical engineers and multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, mechanical, process, instrumentation and controls, and architectural disciplines.
  • Participating in BIM coordination efforts, model reviews, clash detection, and design coordination meetings.
  • Producing construction-level deliverables in accordance with client standards, AECOM standards, and applicable codes.
  • Assisting project managers and discipline leads with project delivery, document control, and quality assurance.
  • Maintaining drawing registers, BIM models, and project documentation using ProjectWise or similar document management platforms.
  • Supporting electrical design efforts from conceptual planning through final design, bidding, construction, and as-built documentation.
  • Performing field verification and supporting construction-phase services as required.
  • Mentoring junior designers and providing technical guidance related to drafting standards, BIM workflows, and drawing production.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology, or a related technical discipline; or demonstrated equivalent experience. 6+ years of electrical design and drafting experience supporting infrastructure, industrial, municipal, or water/wastewater projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License and ability to satisfy AECOM motor vehicle requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of electrical design and drafting experience.
  • 8+ years of experience supporting water and/or wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, conveyance systems, or related utility infrastructure.
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency with Revit and BIM-based project delivery, including development and coordination of electrical models.
  • Experience preparing construction documents for public agency or municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Experience supporting large municipal treatment facilities, reclamation plants, or utility infrastructure projects.
  • Experience producing BIM models using Revit MEP.
  • Experience with City of Los Angeles, MWD, OC San, LACSD, LADWP, DWP, or similar municipal agency standards.
  • Experience coordinating electrical power, lighting, grounding, and low-voltage systems.
  • Familiarity with ProjectWise or equivalent electronic document management systems.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and manage multiple concurrent assignments.
