Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Wastewater Process Engineering Specialist/EIT to be based in Burnaby, BC.
This position is well suited for a recent graduate or early-career engineer interested in applying process and mechanical engineering principles to water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Working under the supervision of experienced engineers, the successful candidate will support the planning, design, and delivery of treatment facilities, pumping systems, and related infrastructure while developing their technical and consulting skills.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures to support water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Support preliminary engineering design, calculations, sketches, diagrams, and working drawings under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Select equipment and coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and the engineering team.
- Prepare technical specifications, special provisions, and tender documents.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret project data to support engineering decisions.
- Coordinate shop drawing reviews and respond to technical inquiries.
- Review quantity and cost estimates for accuracy and completeness.
- Support contract administration during construction of water and wastewater infrastructure and facilities.
- Prepare technical reports, analyses, and project documentation.
- Deliver assignments within scope, budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Communicate project progress and technical issues, escalating complex matters as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with project teams while also managing assigned work independently.
- Participate in professional development and industry events.
- Take on increasingly complex assignments as your technical knowledge and experience grow.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering or other related field.
- Eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training with EGBC.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Academic, co-op, internship, or professional experience related to water or wastewater infrastructure, process engineering, mechanical systems, or engineering consulting.
- Foundational knowledge of fluid mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, and mechanical equipment.
- Familiarity with pumps, piping, valves, process equipment, P&IDs, equipment layouts, and engineering drawings.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, teamwork skills and technical report writing skills.
- Able to organize workload and multiple project deadlines.
- Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position ( AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks).
