Our Client and Broker Engagement (CBE) team manages AIG’s major client relationships across all product lines, as well as driving new business activity. The team serves major clients and broker partners through an elevated, personalized experience – our client-centric framework drives a consistent experience and best practice, while allowing flexibility to meet the client’s needs.
How you will create an impact
The Head of Private Equity - International is responsible for managing and growing AIG’s footprint with Private Equity firms and their portfolio companies, through strategic engagement with our key broker partners and select sponsor firms. The Head of Private Equity - International will be a key member of the International Client & Broker Engagement team and will collaborate closely with both senior regional and product leaders to drive engagement and insights that yield outpaced growth.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Tasked with driving the financial results for assigned private equity relationships, their portfolio companies through broker networks, the Head of Private Equity International will:
- Serve as a key member of the International CBE Leadership Team and be the dedicated AIG commercial contact for assigned private equity relationships & their portfolio companies to generate new business growth and account retention across the portfolio.
- Work closely with Broker Directors, Client Directors, Broker & Market Leaders and Executives, Wholesale & Alternative Distribution to raise the level of broker and client intensity and ensure execution of channel, broker and client strategies that amplify growth.
- Work with Product leaders to establish a comprehensive PE strategy, appetite framework, and team that differentiates AIG in the marketplace.
- Develop goals and support growth plans for select sponsors and broking organizations, leveraging AIG platforms such as 360 and Salesforce to monitor the
- Distribute analytical results to appropriate internal stakeholders and communicate data-driven findings that will drive opportunities for alignment and profitable growth/retention strategies by product. progress of those plans.
- Develop & implement the process to prospect and target accounts by line of business to strengthen private equity pipeline.
- Own the prospect and targeting programme for private equity-backed portfolio companies & pipelining initiatives at the local level.
- Educate internal stakeholders of the greater overall private equity relationship for each opportunity.
- Maintain working knowledge of both the PE landscape and insurance industry relationships to leverage in place broker/carrier agreements to generate changed behaviour between carrier and private equity broker teams.
- Refine engagement strategy with focus brokers, private equity sponsors and portfolio company risk management departments, and other key stakeholders to review results, adjust strategies, and ensure engagement achieves maximum business impact.
- Serve as the key point of escalation for issues, coordinating with appropriate national leadership.
- Build valuable PE broker, fund and portfolio company relationships with key personnel, including C-suite executives, to identify critical focus areas, existing AIG alignment and forward-looking opportunities for increased partnership.
- Identify and maintain regular collaborative dialogue with key business influencers at major brokerage operations.
- Drive the AIG value proposition and ensure that clients are aware of the array of products, services and solutions (enterprise-wide) available and enhance exposure to AIG.
- Coordinate with colleagues on the AIG North America team to ensure alignment and coordination around management of applicable global business plans.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Extensive experience in broker and/or carrier relationship management, underwriting or commercial insurance broking is highly preferred.
- Broad working knowledge of private equity landscape & M&A marketplace.
- Must possess strong business acumen, process, project management, data orientation, and be able to professionally and tactfully manage sensitive and confidential information.
- Must possess relevant technical grounding and ability to understand and articulate product strategies and differentiators
- Strong sales background, negotiation skills and presentation skills required.
- Proficiency in working with data with a focus on Salesforce.
- Comfortable working on time sensitive transactions in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate adaptability, actively leaning into AIG’s learn-it-all culture.
- Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills are required to communicate directly with senior leadership within AIG and the dedicated broker relationships.
