Job Description

Company Description

Akuo is a French renewable energy producer specializing in wind, solar, and energy storage solutions.

The Group is active across the entire value chain, from project development and financing to construction and operations.

By the end of 2025, Akuo had a total operational and under-construction capacity of 2.1 GW, along with a project pipeline exceeding 10 GW. With more than 450 employees, and headquarters in Paris, the Group develops renewable energy projects in more than fifteen countries worldwide, primarily across Europe and the Americas.

Akuo in Poland

Akuo operates three onshore wind farms in Poland—Wielowieś, EP44 and Gniew—with a combined installed capacity of 132 MW. Commissioned in 2021, these assets supply the equivalent electricity needs of approximately 200,000 households and avoid around 300,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. From its Polish office in Szczecin, Akuo continues to develop renewable energy projects and works closely with local authorities, communities and other stakeholders to support Poland’s energy transition. Akuo currently has approximately 0.5 GW of renewable energy projects in development in Poland across all technologies, with high ambitions to increase this number.

Job Description

General Responsibilities:

  • Take full and clear ownership and accountability for assigned priority wind, PV and BESS projects across the development lifecycle, from early-stage/greenfield development or acquisition through Ready-to-Build, FID and handover to construction, ensuring that each project has an actionable development plan, active follow-up and sustained progress.

  • Lead and coordinate key workstreams including land securitization, permitting, environmental procedures, grid connection, technical development and, where relevant, support for offtake and financing.

  • Own project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, dependencies and critical milestones; identify bottlenecks early and proactively implement mitigation measures.

  • Coordinate internal multidisciplinary teams and manage external consultants, advisors and contractors, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.

  • Build and manage relationships with authorities, municipalities, grid operators, landowners, local communities and project partners, with extensive field presence across Poland.

  • Ensure projects meet Akuo’s internal requirements for development gates, investment decisions, Ready-to-Build status and handover to construction.

  • Provide clear project reporting, recommendations and escalation of priorities and risks to the Head of Development Poland and senior management.

  • Foster the deployment of best development practices in accordance with local and international standards, sharing experience across the Polish development team and wider Akuo organization.

  • Provide guidance, practical support and knowledge sharing to other members of the Polish development team, without formal line-management responsibility.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

Reporting directly to the Head of Development Poland, Joanna Zienkiewicz, the Senior Project Manager is a senior member of the Polish development team. The role is responsible for end-to-end ownership of the most important renewable energy projects and for strengthening the team’s capacity to advance projects efficiently from early-stage development through Ready-to-Build, FID, and handover to construction.

Qualifications

Required experience and qualifications:

  • 7+ years of professional experience, including strong exposure to renewable energy or infrastructure development in Poland.

  • 5+ years of project management experience in complex, multidisciplinary projects.

  • Proven experience in utility-scale wind and solar development; BESS experience is a strong advantage.

  • Good practical understanding of Polish permitting, environmental procedures, land securitization, grid connection and technical development.

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience progressing renewable energy projects through Polish permitting, environmental, spatial-planning, land and grid-connection processes.

  • University degree in engineering, energy, environmental sciences, construction, economics or a related field.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and stakeholders simultaneously, while maintaining focus on the critical path.

Competencies and personal profile:

  • Demonstrated ownership and accountability for project delivery, with strong commercial awareness and sound decision-making.

  • Ability to anticipate problems and propose practical solutions, rather than only identify issues.

  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and interpersonal communication skills; able to challenge consultants and align multidisciplinary teams.

  • Established and extensive professional network in the Polish renewable energy sector, with a proven ability to develop and maintain trusted partnerships with authorities, municipalities, grid operators, landowners, local communities, consultants and other key market stakeholders.

  • A collaborative and open-minded team player, willing to work closely and proactively within a small but highly driven team, with strong cooperation skills and a constructive approach to sharing knowledge, ideas and responsibilities.

  • Ability to combine technical, permitting and commercial thinking and to communicate priorities and risks clearly.

  • Driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently and spend significant time in the field across Poland, with occasional travel abroad.

  • Comfortable working in a multicultural and highly digital environment.

Additional advantages:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with Microsoft Project or similar project planning and scheduling software.

  • Familiarity with renewable-energy industry software (for example, PVsyst, pvDesign, OpenWind or similar tools) is considered an advantage but is not a requirement.
