Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized Tooling Coordinator to support tooling programs from concept through production launch. This role serves as the primary liaison between engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, purchasing, and program management teams to ensure tooling projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to quality requirements.

The ideal candidate will have experience coordinating tooling or manufacturing projects, managing schedules and supplier communications, tracking engineering deliverables, and supporting tooling procurement activities. This position is best suited for someone with a strong background in tooling manufacturing, project coordination, program management, manufacturing operations, or tooling engineering support.

This individual will act as the central point of coordination for tooling activities by:

  • Managing tooling project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Coordinating suppliers, engineering teams, and manufacturing stakeholders.
  • Tracking tooling status, approvals, engineering changes, and documentation.
  • Supporting prototype builds, tooling fabrication, and production launches.
  • Monitoring project risks and ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Maintaining accurate tooling records, reports, and program data.
  • Supporting tooling sourcing, quote reviews, and procurement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update tooling project trackers, schedules, and engineering request status reports.
  • Monitor tooling program milestones and ensure projects remain on schedule.
  • Coordinate activities between engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and suppliers.
  • Track supplier RFQs, quotations, lead times, and tooling delivery schedules.
  • Follow up with suppliers regarding tooling status, manufacturing progress, and open action items.
  • Track engineering change requests and communicate changes to suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Schedule and facilitate tooling reviews, supplier meetings, project updates, and engineering discussions.
  • Support tooling sourcing, procurement, and supplier selection activities.
  • Monitor project risks, identify roadblocks, and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Maintain tooling documentation, engineering records, supplier files, and project data within SharePoint and related systems.
  • Develop and maintain tooling dashboards, status reports, and Power BI reporting.
  • Track prototype tooling, validation activities, and production launch readiness.
  • Support manufacturing teams during tooling installation, qualification, and launch activities.
  • Ensure engineering approvals, documentation releases, and project gates are completed on time.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling processes and program execution.
  • Coordinate multiple tooling projects simultaneously while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business, Project Management, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience coordinating tooling, manufacturing, engineering, or production-related projects.
  • Experience working in a tooling manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, industrial manufacturing, or similar environment.
  • Strong project coordination or project management experience.
  • Experience managing supplier communications, schedules, and project deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of tooling fabrication, manufacturing processes, and production environments.
  • Experience supporting tooling launches, prototype builds, or manufacturing implementation projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, and project tracking tools.
  • Experience creating and maintaining project reports, dashboards, and status updates.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred

  • Experience using Power BI for reporting and dashboard development.
  • Knowledge of tooling procurement and supplier management processes.
  • Experience supporting engineering change management activities.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing drawings and tooling documentation.
  • Exposure to CAD systems such as CATIA or SolidWorks for reviewing engineering data (design expertise not required).
  • PMP, CAPM, or other project management certification.
  • Experience in tooling manufacturing, metal fabrication, machining, injection molding, stamping, or related manufacturing processes.

Salary: $80,000 - $85,000
