Legal and Compliance Officer

What you’ll be doing
As a Legal and Compliance Officer at AssistiveWare, you ensure that our legal agreements and compliance obligations are handled consistently, accurately, and on time. You manage agreements and contracts, and keep our compliance systems (ISO 27001 and MDR) running smoothly in day-to-day practice. Given that most of our clients are based in the United States and Australia the job will span a large variety of regulations and requirements.
You will work closely with specialized external legal partners and with clients in multiple countries ensuring access to our products.
The main activities are:
- Handling of privacy agreements and cyber security assessments
- Own the day-to-day maintenance of our ISO 27001 Information Security Management System and MDR Quality Management System, ensuring documentation remains audit-ready, recurring compliance activities are executed, and changes to products are assessed for regulatory impact in collaboration with external regulatory advisors
- Maintain technical documentation for our medical device software, including coordination of updates to risk management files, clinical evaluation documentation, post-market surveillance records, and complaint handling processes
- Handle media permission forms for productions and publications
- Maintain product privacy statements and product terms of service
- Protect IP and handle trademark registrations
- Bachelor-level education, preferably with an international law background (or similar)
- Experience working with ISO 27001, ISO 13485, or EU MDR in a software or medical device environment is strongly preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with contracts and compliance-related work
- Fluent in English; Dutch is a strong plus
- Must have exceptional organizational skills with commensurate attention to detail
- The ability to work across time-zones, independently and prioritize effectively
- Affinity with financial administration or reporting is a plus
