LOCATION: Salford - Hybrid
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £41,000 - £51,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

### PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join the team powering BBC Sport's live streaming future. As a Systems Engineer (IP), you'll own and develop our portfolio of LiveU, WMT and streaming encoder contribution technologies, enabling live sports content to reach audiences wherever they are. Working at the heart of the BBC Sport Technology team, you'll plan and support streaming productions, collaborate with production teams, engineers, and 3rd party platforms to deliver innovative IP-based solutions that keep our live operations reliable, scalable and ready for the biggest sporting moments.

As audience habits evolve and streaming becomes increasingly central to our output, this role is critical to ensuring our IP contribution and streaming infrastructure remains robust, innovative and operationally excellent. You'll help shape how live content is captured, transported and delivered across a growing portfolio of digital and broadcast services.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
• Support the delivery of live sports productions by configuring, operating and monitoring IP contribution and streaming technologies, ensuring content is delivered reliably to audiences across BBC Sport's digital and broadcast platforms.
• Provide technical support for live and planned events, proactively identifying, troubleshooting and resolving issues to maintain the resilience and quality of time-critical sports coverage.
• Work closely with production teams, engineers and external suppliers to deliver effective IP-based solutions that meet operational requirements and contribute to the successful delivery of major sporting events.
• Assist with the testing, deployment and ongoing support of new technologies and services, helping improve the reliability, scalability and efficiency of BBC Sport's streaming and contribution workflows.
• Develop and maintain expertise in IP and streaming technologies, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and supporting BBC Sport's transition towards increasingly digital and streaming-focused production and delivery models.
### YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Experience working with broadcast, streaming, media technology or IP-based systems in an operational or engineering support environment.
• A good understanding of IP networking principles and their application in media, broadcast or streaming workflows.
• Experience supporting live or time-critical services, with the ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with production teams, engineers and external partners.
• A proactive approach to learning new technologies and processes, with a focus on delivering reliable, high-quality support.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
• Familiarity with LiveU, WMT, streaming encoders or similar IP contribution technologies.
• Experience supporting live events, broadcast operations or digital media productions.
• Knowledge of video streaming, content delivery and media transport technologies.
• Understanding of cloud-based media services or virtualised production environments.
• Experience working with third-party technology suppliers or vendors to support operational services.
