As a GIS Specialist at BESIX, you will play a crucial role in managing, analyzing, and visualizing spatial data to support construction projects in Belgium and France (remote). You will work closely with various teams, including engineers, planners, project managers, and designers, to efficiently leverage geographic information in operational and decision-making processes.

You will join the Information Management team, reporting to the BIM/GIS Manager. In addition, you will collaborate closely with GIS and BIM colleagues across BESIX Belgium and Nederland.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Develop and manage GIS maps, datasets, and applications for ongoing and future projects in Belgium and internationally.
  • Analyze and visualize geographic information to provide insights into project areas.
  • Integrate GIS data with BIM models and other technical systems.
  • Automate spatial analyses and data processing using Python, FME, or other GIS tools.
  • Collaborate with teams in the Netherlands and Belgium to optimize best practices and data

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geoinformatics or another relevant field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience within the construction industry on large-scale (over €25 million) or complex infrastructure projects is an asset.
  • Proven hands-on experience with ArcGIS Pro.
  • Proven experience with Python and FME.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Online and/or ArcGIS Enterprise.
  • Experience working with (Enterprise) Geodatabases.
  • Experience with BIM-related data is considered a plus.
  • Experience with drone data is considered a plus.
  • Experience using GIS in relation to other information systems, such as Relatics, is considered a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and French; English is a strong asset.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse international teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to maintain processes under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • A proactive mindset to further promote and expand the use of GIS within BESIX and its projects.
  • Ability to motivate, train, and guide others.
  • Ability to identify opportunities where innovation can improve efficiency and enhance the work of others.
