Engineer II
About Us
Boostlingo is a leading language technology platform powering interpretation and translation services for healthcare, legal, government, and enterprise clients worldwide. Named an Inc. Magazine Best Workplace for four consecutive years, we are a high-growth, mission-driven company at the intersection of language access and AI innovation. Our team operates with urgency, operates with heart, and holds the bar high — for each other and for the people we serve.
What It Means To Be a Boostie
At Boostlingo, we operate through the lens of our four Core Values. These Core Values drive everything we do; from how we approach identifying talent we invite to join the team, to the energy and contributions we bring to our amazing culture, to the decisions we make at both the tactical and strategic level. To be a Boostie means to embody these Core Values every day:
-
Positive Vibes: Bring positive energy and a solutions-oriented mindset to every interaction. High performance isn’t just about outputs — it’s about showing up with intentionality, resilience, and the belief that obstacles are problems worth solving.
-
Drive Change: Stay curious, challenge assumptions, adapt quickly, and take action even when the path isn’t perfectly clear. Be proactive rather than reactive — and lean into AI as a force multiplier.
-
Be Bold, Stay Humble: Growth lives in the tension between confidence and humility — be willing to stretch beyond what’s comfortable, own your development, and invest in the potential of the people around you. Every voice matters, and no one person is bigger than the team.
- Be Inclusive: Create and contribute to an environment where anyone can feel welcomed, supported, respected, and valued. Inclusive teams collaborate better — bring your full self, invest in others, and build the psychological safety that makes shared impact possible.
Why This Role Matters
Boostlingo's engineering org builds with an agentic framework: AI is part of how every change gets designed, written, tested, and shipped. The engineers who use that framework well, and make it better for the people around them, decide how fast and how reliably the Language Intelligence Platform improves.
We are hiring engineers who own real scope and multiply the impact of the pod they sit in.
The Opportunity
You will join Boostlingo Engineering as a senior individual contributor. Your scope depends on where you operate today. Some engineers own a system or feature area and make their pod ship faster and better. Others own multi-system or multi-pod scope and are accountable for business outcomes that trace to their technical decisions. A few set technical strategy for the org, including how the agentic framework is shaped across models, data and retrieval, and eval and safety infrastructure.
We place you by the scope you have already owned, not by years served, and we tell you where you land during the interview process.
What You'll Own
- Own a system, feature area, or larger technical scope, and be the reason it exists and works
- Make trade-off calls that weigh customer and business cost, not just technical elegance
- Use the company agentic framework fluently every day, and improve it: add prompts, configs, workflows, and guardrails that other engineers adopt
- Anticipate AI-specific failure modes such as hallucination, drift, and prompt injection in how the framework is applied
- Own quality for your area, not just your own commits: keep the Gate (automated agentic testing) strong and drive escaped-defect trends down, fixing the class of problem or the system, not only the instance
- Lead design discussions and write design docs (AI-drafted, human-owned) that other engineers reference
- Mentor engineers and coach them on getting more from the framework
- Influence decisions across pods, and at broader scope lead cross-pod initiatives, advise engineering leadership, and set direction for the org's technical strategy
- Drive change: propose and run the experiment, then package what you learned
What We Are Looking For
Profile of Our Ideal Candidate
You are a force multiplier. The pod ships faster and better because you are in it, and you can point to AI as a deliberate part of how. You review AI-assisted code with the same rigor as hand-written code, and you can defend every line you ship.
You argue for the less interesting design when it is the one the customer needs. You disagree in the open, with evidence, and you keep Positive Vibes under pressure: you bring the critique and the path forward in the same breath. At broader scope, you are a steady presence in hard rooms and you deliver bad news honestly without convincing anyone it cannot be fixed.
Process Improvement Skills We're Looking For
You improve how the whole pod works, not just your own corner. You tune the Gate and agentic workflows so defects get caught earlier, turn a repeat escape into a fix at the system level, and package what you learn so other people can use it. When you improve the framework, someone else's measurable use of your work is the proof, not a shared prompt that was opened once.
What This Role Is Not
This is not a role for someone who wants to work only on their own tickets. It is not a people-management role, since you stay hands-on and lead through technical judgment. It is not for someone who treats AI output as a final answer. Years of experience alone do not place you here. The scope you have owned does.
Minimum Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of owning a system or feature area
- Daily, fluent use of AI-assisted development, with code you understand and can defend
- Experience mentor
- ing other engineers and leading design discussions
- Experience owning quality for a production area, including automated testing and escaped-defect trends
- Clear written communication, including design docs other engineers rely on
Preferred Qualifications
- Improvements to a shared AI or agentic framework that other engineers outside your team adopted
- Experience leading cross-team initiatives or advising engineering leadership
- Experience with models, data and retrieval, or eval and safety infrastructure
- Experience setting org-level technical strategy that showed up in business results
- Experience with real-time communications, interpreting, or language technology
