Location: Paris, Place de Clichy, 75008
Work model: Hybrid, with two remote days per week

About the team

Our team develops AI and computer vision technologies that improve the way automotive images are created, enhanced, and distributed.

You will join a compact (3 persons) team collaborating closely with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver impactful solutions from research to production.

A recent project: NextGen360

NextGen360 is the next generation of CarCutter’s 360° product, powered by generative AI.

It transforms the four standard vehicle views already captured, front, rear, left side, and right side, into an interactive 360° video experience.

Unlike traditional 360° solutions, it does not require a dedicated capture session or a second walk around the vehicle. This technology enables a faster, more scalable, and more efficient way to create interactive vehicle experiences.

The role

As a Senior / Lead Computer Vision Engineer, you will own computer vision and generative AI features from research and prototyping through to production deployment.

This is primarily an individual contributor role, with an approximate split of 80% hands-on technical work and 20% technical leadership. You will help guide and support the team, without being responsible for managing a large organization.

At CarCutter, you will work on production-grade AI systems in a highly competitive market. We actively explore state-of-the-art technologies, including image and video generation models while maintaining high standards for quality, efficiency, scalability, and commercial viability. This extends to the way of working itself, where it is expected every engineer uses and continues to learn about AI tooling to accelerate the work.

What you’ll do

  • Own computer vision and generative AI features end to end, from research and prototyping to staging and production deployment.

  • Evaluate state-of-the-art computer vision and generative AI technologies, including open-source models and API-based solutions, using rigorous benchmarks based on real-world use cases.

  • Design, implement, and optimize production-grade pipelines, with a strong focus on inference performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.

  • Help the team move faster by sharing technical context, processes, resources, and best practices.

  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to integrate AI solutions into customer-facing products.

  • Assess the maturity and business relevance of the latest advances in computer vision, machine learning, and generative AI.

  • Contribute to technical decisions and help balance image quality, robustness, performance, and commercial constraints.

  • Write clear technical documentation covering system design, model behavior, evaluation methods, and operational considerations.

  • Support the team through knowledge sharing, technical guidance, and mentoring.

What we’re looking for

  • A Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or a related field.

  • At least 6 years of industry experience in AI, machine learning, or computer vision.

  • Strong programming skills in Python and deep expertise in PyTorch.

  • Hands-on experience across the computer vision stack, including:

    • Classical image and signal processing.

    • Deep learning-based perception models, such as segmentation, detection, and refinement.

    • Generative models, including diffusion architectures.

  • A proven ability to take AI systems from concept to production, including deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • The ability to align technical decisions with business priorities and constraints.

  • A high degree of ownership, autonomy, and pragmatism.

  • A results-driven mindset suited to a fast-moving and competitive environment.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

Nice to have

  • Contributions to open-source AI or computer vision projects.

  • Experience building or maintaining CI/CD pipelines for machine learning systems.

  • Experience deploying and operating machine learning models in the cloud, preferably on AWS.

  • Experience optimizing model inference performance.

  • Previous experience providing technical leadership or mentoring engineers.

Do not hesitate to apply if you have never held a lead role but wish to do so.
