At Catawiki, every day brings the extraordinary! Whether it’s Daniel Ricciardo’s Formula 1 Car, a Woolly Mammoth’s Skeleton, Lady Gaga's Jumpsuit or Usain Bolt’s running shoe, we encounter exceptional objects every day.
We’re a one-of-a-kind marketplace for buying and selling special objects. Each week, more than 100,000 unique items are auctioned, all carefully curated by our passionate in-house experts.
Having sold over 25 million unique objects, our mission is to become the world’s most popular destination for special objects. As a growing, diverse and sustainable scale-up, we proudly live by three core values. If these values resonate with you, we’d love to explore how you can join us.
- Taking ownership and driving impact
- Being open to change and feedback
- Being passionate about our mission and our customers.
Your mission
Every designer at Catawiki shapes a meaningful part of the customer experience.
In Seller Experience, your mission is to make it easier for sellers to bring special objects to Catawiki and for our experts to select and curate them. You will improve the experiences and tools that help sellers get started, submit objects and work with our experts. The seller journey is closely connected to the quality of the objects buyers discover on Catawiki. You will work across that journey to understand where people need support, identify the most valuable design opportunities and create experiences that work for customers, the business and the technology behind them.
You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data and other designers. From research and early concepts through prototyping, delivery and learning after launch, you will help the team turn complex problems into clear, useful experiences.
What you will do
- Lead design for important parts of the seller and expert experience, from early discovery through launch and improvement.
- Use customer research, behavioural data and business insight to identify needs and design opportunities.
- Turn ambiguous customer problems into clear journeys, concepts, prototypes and design plans.
- Explore and test ideas with customers and colleagues, using what you learn to improve the experience.
- Create thoughtful interaction and interface designs, prototypes and service flows that make complex tasks clear and intuitive.
- Partner with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, UX Writers and other designers to shape and deliver solutions.
- Connect customer needs with business goals and technical constraints, helping the team make sound tradeoffs.
- Contribute to design systems and shared patterns that create coherent experiences across Catawiki.
- Share your design rationale, bring feedback into the process and help stakeholders reach clear decisions.
- Use AI and rapid prototyping tools to explore ideas and test assumptions when they help solve a meaningful customer problem.
Who you are
- Customer understanding: You are curious about what people need and why. You use research, data and direct feedback to understand the problem before settling on a solution.
- Systems thinking: You understand how seller tools, expert workflows, object quality and the buyer experience influence one another. You can make thoughtful design decisions across the wider journey.
- Design judgement: You bring clarity to complex experiences. You care about craft and can balance usability, business needs and technical constraints.
You will also bring:
- At least five years of experience designing digital products, ideally in ecommerce, marketplaces or another product used directly by customers.
- A portfolio that shows how you approached complex problems, improved experiences and contributed to results.
- Strong skills in interaction design, prototyping and visual communication.
- Experience conducting or contributing to customer research and translating what you learn into design decisions.
- Confidence working with Product Managers, Engineers and other partners in a cross functional team.
- Fluency with Figma and prototyping tools.
- An understanding of design systems and how to use and improve shared patterns.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain your thinking to different audiences.
- A degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
