Founding Engineer
About the Role
This is a high-ownership founding engineer role at an early-stage AI fintech startup building automation tooling for private market operations. You will work directly alongside the founding team and early customers to design and ship the core product, shape the roadmap, and help grow the team. It is a rare opportunity to be a true pillar of a company from day one.
What You'll Do
Build and maintain core platform components including AI agents that capture data from inboxes, web portals, and connected sources.
Develop production-grade backend services and APIs that power reconciliation, journal entry generation, and reporting workflows.
Integrate and operate large language models and agentic systems in a live production environment.
Work directly with customers and design partners to gather requirements, communicate trade-offs, and translate feedback into product decisions.
Contribute across the full product lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to testing and delivery.
Help attract and evaluate exceptional engineering talent as the team grows.
What We're Looking For
1 to 3 years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of building and shipping real products.
Hands-on experience with LLMs and agentic or autonomous systems in production.
Strong backend development skills in Python or TypeScript, with solid computer science and engineering fundamentals.
Experience building or operating AI-native operations infrastructure, such as systems for accounting, reporting, reconciliation, or treasury.
Domain knowledge of private markets fund accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and treasury processes.
Full-product-lifecycle capability rather than a narrowly backend-only or frontend-only profile.
Comfort with ambiguity, proactive communication, and a high-ownership mindset suited to a small founding team.
Eligibility to work in Germany; visa sponsorship is available.
Prior experience at a high-growth startup, or a background as a co-founder or from-scratch builder, is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: 70,000 to 110,000 EUR annually. Visa sponsorship is available for eligible candidates.
Location
On-site in Berlin, Germany. Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to Berlin.
