Founding Engineer (Applied AI)
About the Role
Join an early-stage construction technology team building AI systems that interpret construction plans and support faster, more affordable building workflows. You will focus on the intelligence layer, developing computer vision and machine learning capabilities and turning them into useful prototypes.
What You'll Do
Develop and improve computer vision, large language model, and other AI systems for construction workflows.
Build and ship early prototypes quickly, then refine them using user feedback.
Work across practical early-stage product needs, including tasks beyond core modeling and research.
Help coordinate machine learning models and advance object detection capabilities.
What We're Looking For
Hands-on applied computer vision and machine learning experience, including Python and deep learning; the role is open to a range of experience levels.
Experience taking an AI system from an initial build through production deployment.
Strong communication skills, empathy, candor, and a growth mindset.
Comfort with pragmatic early-stage work and challenging problems outside a narrow technical specialty.
Motivation to use technology to make housing more affordable, rather than focusing primarily on compensation.
U.S. citizenship and willingness to work full-time from the San Francisco office or relocate.
Construction or social-impact experience, or a history of building something adopted or paid for by users, is helpful.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary is $120,000 to $180,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
