Senior iOS/Android Software Engineer
About the Role
This is a senior mobile engineering role on a small, product-focused team building a consumer fintech app that helps everyday people manage cash flow, access earned wages early, and build credit. You will have meaningful ownership over the Android experience and collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to ship features that directly affect user happiness.
What You'll Do
Design, implement, and maintain a production-grade consumer Android application used by a growing base of real users.
Contribute to platform-level architecture and help scale core app infrastructure.
Solve engineering challenges pragmatically, balancing quality with speed in a startup environment.
Partner with product and design to shape the direction of new features and user experiences.
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and business teams to align on clear objectives.
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers on the mobile team.
What We're Looking For
At least 5 years of professional mobile app development experience, with 2 or more years shipping production Android applications.
Strong Kotlin expertise, with hands-on experience using Jetpack Compose and modern app architecture patterns such as MVVM or Clean Architecture.
Experience integrating Firebase services including Authentication, Firestore or Realtime Database, and Cloud Messaging.
Familiarity with backend data formats and APIs common in mobile development, including protobufs, REST, and gRPC.
Proficiency with Android testing strategies covering unit, instrumentation, and UI tests, as well as CI/CD pipeline maintenance for mobile apps.
Demonstrated experience building consumer-facing mobile products, not exclusively B2B.
At least 3 years of experience working in a startup environment.
Proven mentorship or technical leadership experience guiding junior engineers.
Strong CS fundamentals, ideally backed by a rigorous university background.
Clear, effective communication and a collaborative approach to cross-functional work.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $160,000 to $200,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is available.
Location
On-site in San Francisco, California. Candidates must be local to San Francisco or Seattle.
