Talent AI Operator
About the Role
This is a new kind of role at the intersection of recruiting and AI operations. You will supervise autonomous AI agents that source, message, and qualify candidates at scale, stepping in for high-judgment moments and closing placements that need a human touch. Think air traffic controller, not pilot, and expect to help define what AI-native recruiting operations looks like as the company grows.
What You'll Do
Monitor live AI agent pipelines, flag errors, and intervene when human judgment is needed.
Handle high-stakes candidate conversations including objection handling, compensation negotiation, and senior-candidate outreach.
Review agent outputs, label good and bad responses, and write examples that improve AI performance.
Audit candidate matches, outreach quality, and conversion rates across thousands of weekly touchpoints.
Guide candidates through final stages, manage offers, and ensure successful placements.
Document what works, build SOPs, and help define how humans and AI agents collaborate effectively.
What We're Looking For
2 or more years in talent operations, recruitment, or sourcing at early-stage tech startups.
Extensive hands-on experience with AI tools (such as large language model assistants) to evaluate quality, identify errors, and understand AI capabilities and limitations.
Proven ability to close placements and manage final-stage candidate conversations.
Comfort using data to drive recruiting decisions: KPIs, dashboards, A/B tests, and conversion rate analysis.
Experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, and leadership teams in startup environments.
Background training, labeling, or providing feedback to improve AI or ML systems.
Experience in AI-focused startups or with AI-native hiring processes is a plus.
Familiarity with TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, React, Node.js, or similar technologies is a plus.
Experience documenting processes or building operational playbooks is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive base salary plus uncapped performance-based compensation tied to placements. Top performers earn significantly more. Equity is available on a performance basis, with grants available after a 90-day performance window. Benefits include health insurance and visa sponsorship.
Location
Hybrid role based in San Francisco, California. Candidates located elsewhere in the United States are also considered. Visa sponsorship is available.
