Overview

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Medical Coding & Audit, the Coding Analyst III will be a key member of the team responsible for ensuring that CodaMetrix meets—and exceeds—our customers’ coding quality expectations.

This role requires a highly experienced medical coding professional with deep expertise in radiology coding. The Coding Analyst III will leverage extensive experience in coding, billing, and auditing to review, analyze, and enhance coding processes, both internally and externally. This individual will serve as a senior subject matter expert in radiology coding and will play a pivotal role in improving the quality and efficiency of coding operations.

The Coding Analyst III will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Machine Learning, Product, and Customer Implementations, providing expert coding guidance and helping translate complex radiology coding concepts into actionable solutions.

This role requires demonstrated mastery of radiology coding, the ability to navigate and communicate highly complex coding scenarios, and an unwavering commitment to quality, continuous learning, and innovation in medical coding practices.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer & Workflow Analysis

  • Analyze and document customers’ coding practices and workflows to facilitate optimal use of the CodaMetrix product.

  • Identify and share best practices for coding automation and workflow improvements.

  • Apply deep radiology coding expertise to identify coding complexities, risks, and opportunities within customer workflows.

2. Coding Quality Management

  • Assist the Senior Manager with Coding Quality Assessment (CQA) projects, including work assignments, training, and quality assurance for coding staff.

  • Leverage CodaMetrix coding standards and extensive radiology coding expertise to drive world-class coding quality and consistency.

  • Review and analyze complex coding scenarios and provide guidance on appropriate coding practices.

  • Present audit results and coding recommendations to customer stakeholders and facilitate sign-off for go-live milestones.

3. Radiology Coding Subject Matter Expertise

  • Serve as a senior internal and external Subject Matter Expert (SME) in radiology coding and billing.

  • Provide authoritative guidance on complex radiology coding scenarios, including CPT coding, documentation requirements, modifiers, and applicable coding guidelines.

  • Provide expert coding and billing guidance to Machine Learning, Product, and other cross-functional teams.

  • Help identify coding patterns, edge cases, and complexities that may impact automation accuracy and product performance.

4. Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing

  • Develop and deliver evaluation and training materials on coding and billing to colleagues and customers.

  • Serve as a resource and mentor to other coding team members, particularly on complex radiology coding topics.

  • Share knowledge throughout CodaMetrix to strengthen internal coding competencies and champion continuous improvement initiatives.

5. Compliance & Professional Development

  • Proactively stay current on changes in medical coding and billing, particularly those affecting radiology, by maintaining relevant certifications and participating in ongoing education.

  • Uphold all legal and ethical requirements, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance in all coding and audit activities.

6. Customer Implementation Support

  • Actively participate in customer implementations, providing senior-level coding expertise to ensure accurate and efficient deployment of CodaMetrix solutions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Machine Learning, Product, Customer Success, and Implementations, to address customer needs and optimize results.

  • Serve as a trusted coding resource during implementations involving complex radiology coding workflows.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Current AHIMA or AAPC coding credential held for 7+ years.

  • 7–10 years of medical coding and auditing experience, with progressive growth in responsibilities.

  • Significant hands-on radiology coding experience is required. Candidates must demonstrate deep expertise in radiology coding and the ability to independently navigate complex radiology coding scenarios.

  • CPC, CCS, and/or CIRCC certification required; CIRCC strongly preferred given the radiology focus of this role.

  • Demonstrated expertise in CPT coding, particularly within radiology, including a strong understanding of applicable coding guidelines, modifiers, documentation requirements, and billing practices.

  • Experience coding across multiple radiology modalities and/or subspecialties is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a coding SME and provide guidance on complex or ambiguous coding scenarios.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to effectively engage executives, directors, data scientists, customers, and other stakeholders with varying levels of coding knowledge.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated commitment to excellence and precision.

  • Critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and creativity in problem-solving.
