Senior Software Engineer, Retail DEX
We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Retail DEX team within the Consumer & Business group. This team runs all the data and trading systems that power onchain ("DEX") trading within the main Coinbase app, enabling millions of traders to buy and sell 70M+ tokens on major blockchains including Base and Solana. You'll build software systems that straddle the off-chain and onchain worlds to deliver a seamless, unified trading experience regardless of where an asset settles.
What you'll do:
- Integrate new blockchains, decentralized exchanges, and launchpads into the main Coinbase app to unlock more onchain assets for millions of traders
- Design and implement first-party smart contracts for onchain trading primitives such as DEX aggregation and advanced order types to improve execution quality and capability
- Scale real-time data pipelines to handle 100K+ messages per second, enabling millisecond-latency processing of blockchain market data
- Optimize the trading stack end-to-end to deliver the fastest execution, most optimal fills, and most comprehensive asset coverage for DEX traders
- Drive iteration on agentic-first development patterns, building self-improving software systems and tooling that accelerate team velocity
Required Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering with demonstrated success building and operating data systems or data pipelines in production
- Hands-on experience designing data-intensive systems and integrating with large-scale data infrastructure such as Kafka, Clickhouse, Starrocks, Temporal, and Redis
- Proven experience designing and integrating with onchain smart contracts on EVM (Ethereum, Base) or Solana, with deep understanding of the programming models of one or more of these virtual machines
- Demonstrated ability to build, iterate on, and improve agentic-first code repositories and software systems in production environments
- Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
