Crisis Operations Specialist

Help keep crisis services moving when timely coordination matters most.

The Crisis Operations Specialist plays a critical role in supporting CPR’s Crisis Program by coordinating hospital dispatch requests, patient transfers, and communication between crisis counselors, hospitals, and outside agencies. This position is a great fit for someone who is organized, responsive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced behavioral health environment.

Schedule & Work Environment:
This position works a consistent rotating schedule of every other Wednesday and every Thursday through Saturday, from 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.

  • Wednesdays & Saturdays: Remote from home
  • Thursdays & Fridays: Onsite at CPR’s Tempe Clinic

This schedule offers a combination of remote and in-office work, with extended shifts that provide additional days off throughout the pay period.

Position Overview

The Crisis Operations Specialist is responsible for ensuring the timely distribution of dispatch requests from contracted hospitals to Crisis Counselors, coordinating patient transfers from hospital facilities, and communicating with outside agencies to help connect each client with the appropriate level of care.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Communication must be professional, clear, calm, and sensitive at all times

  • Demonstrate superb multi-tasking skills to effectively accomplish multiple competing tasks

  • Maintain phone and computer handling skills

  • High-level attention to detail and accuracy

  • Typing by touch skills are necessary in order to properly document

  • Customer service and/or crisis background, maintain email etiquette, must be able to work effectively both independently and as a member of a growing team

  • Acts ethically and honestly and applies those behaviors to daily work activities




Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Answer all calls in a timely and professional manner

  • Distribute dispatch requests to crisis counselors fairly and in a timely manner

  • Distribute patient referral packets to receiving facilities via electronic fax as needed

  • Address customer concerns in a professional manner

  • Communicate with team members, other internal staff, and outside sources to ensure the best coordination of care for each individual

  • Complete follow up on transfer board regularly throughout each shift

  • Update hospital staff regarding status of patient transfer regularly throughout each shift

  • Documentation of all coordination

  • Gather new client demographic information and document accurately in the appropriate format

  • Assess callers for danger to self/danger to others and determine the appropriate course of action

  • Conduct screens for new, or existing, clients to help get them scheduled and/or connected with appropriate services

  • Adhere to HIPAA privacy and confidentiality regulations and guidelines

  • Reliable and predictable attendance is an essential job function.

  • Other duties as assigned




Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Qualify as a Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)
