Job Description

About the role

We are hiring a software engineer to join our core engineering team. Depending on our current product needs and your experience, your work may support warehouse management, order management, supply chain planning, supply chain intelligence, or integrations.

As a software engineer on the core engineering team, you will own well-scoped features and components, contribute to design decisions, and deliver changes through production with support from teammates when needed.

You will join a team of world-class, highly motivated engineers delivering a high-quality software architecture that will help solve the challenges at the scale that our customers trust us to get right, and so communication and ability to work in a team environment are key for this role.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Build and maintain Bright Suite features using Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, TypeScript, Angular, and MySQL.

  • Turn customer and business problems into software that is reliable, maintainable, and useful in production.

  • Design services, APIs, workflows, data models, and user interfaces that fit the problem and the surrounding product architecture.

  • Write automated tests that protect behavior and catch real bugs.

  • Investigate defects and performance issues by reproducing the problem, reading logs and traces, testing assumptions, and addressing root causes.

  • Participate in design discussions, code reviews, refinement, and retrospectives.

  • Collaborate with product managers, quality engineers, professional services, customer experience, and engineers on adjacent teams.

  • Document decisions, operational considerations, and anything another engineer would need to support or extend your work.

  • Improve the codebase and development process when you see recurring friction, quality gaps, or technical debt.

  • Use AI coding tools as part of your engineering workflow. Review generated code carefully and validate its behavior, security, and fit with our systems.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience building software as part of a collaborative engineering team, with an understanding of what it takes to make code reliable after it ships.

  • Experience with Java and object-oriented design. Experience with Spring Boot and Hibernate is important for this role.

  • Experience building web applications or APIs with TypeScript and a modern frontend framework such as Angular, React, or a similar framework.

  • Experience with MySQL or another relational database, including query writing, data modeling, and performance considerations.

  • A habit of writing automated tests and using code review to improve quality.

  • The ability to understand a problem before coding, ask focused questions, make reasonable decisions, and raise risks early.

  • Clear written and verbal communication. You can explain technical choices to engineers and product partners.

  • Ownership of your work after code merges. You care about how it behaves in staging and production, not only whether it compiles.

  • Curiosity about supply chain and fulfillment software. You do not need prior supply chain experience, but you should want to understand how customers use the product.

  • You help set the standard for useful AI adoption. You use AI throughout design, implementation, debugging, testing, and documentation in ways that improve delivery without lowering quality.

  • Formal education in computer science or a related field.

Helpful experience

  • Experience with cloud services, especially AWS.

  • Experience with integrations, messaging, distributed systems, reporting, analytics, or high-volume data processing.

  • Experience working with enterprise applications or external systems such as ecommerce, ERP, shipping, or material handling systems.

  • Experience with supply chain, warehouse management, order management, inventory, demand planning, or related operations.

PERKS

  • Be part of an energetic team that is serious about delivering software to customers and cultivating our culture. We work awfully hard and are having a blast doing it. This team believes that what we are doing is a game-changer in the industry

  • Coffee bar with cold brew on tap and a full time barista

  • Standing desk (if you’re into that sort of thing)

  • Benefits package including health care, paid time off, life insurance, 401k plan (with match), and gym reimbursement
