BIM Coordinator
As BIM Coordinator, you will coordinate multidisciplinary models, produce MEP construction information and maintain the associated drawing and delivery controls from design review through construction and handover. You will ensure coordination issues are resolved, deliverables meet project requirements and current site information is reflected in record models, drawings and asset information.
You will report to the BIM Manager and work closely with the internal BIM, Engineering, Project and Site teams, as well as client representatives, design teams and specialist contractors.
Purpose
Designer Group is seeking a BIM Coordinator to support the delivery of BIM led projects across the business. The role is responsible for the development, coordination and maintenance of MEP models, drawings and associated project information through construction and handover, ensuring deliverables are coordinated, buildable, accurate and aligned with project requirements.
Your Key Responsibilities as a BIM Coordinator
- Maintain project models, drawings and associated BIM information within project and company CDEs, ensuring information remains current, controlled and auditable.
- Undertake clash detection, manage coordination issues and support their resolution through to close-out.
- Review design information and BIM documentation, identifying missing, conflicting or unworkable information and escalating where required.
- Produce and coordinate fabrication deliverables in line with model, procurement and installation requirements.
- Work with Engineering, Project, Site, Design and specialist teams to resolve coordination matters.
- Apply project BIM requirements, DG standards, QA procedures, naming conventions and information controls.
- Use ACC to collaborate, share and publish models, manage issues and support project coordination.
- Maintain drawing registers, model exchange records, action trackers and production programmes.
- Support and guide junior BIM team members, reviewing outputs for quality, consistency and compliance with project requirements.
- Utilise site surveys, imagery, redlines, point-cloud and other verification data to update models and drawings in accordance with installed conditions.
- Support the delivery of record models, record drawings, asset information and handover requirements.
Requirements
- Relevant BIM, Engineering, Building Services or Construction qualification, trade background or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a BIM Coordination, BIM Modelling or MEP Coordination role.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems, service coordination, construction sequencing, specialist interfaces, builders work requirements and installation methodologies.
- Proficiency in Revit MEP and Navisworks, including model development, federation, clash detection and issue resolution.
- Demonstrable experience producing coordinated MEP construction and installation drawings from Revit models.
- Working knowledge of ISO 19650, project BIM documentation and information requirements.
- Experience producing and coordinating fabrication drawings, assemblies and secondary support information in accordance with project requirements.
- Practical experience using ACC for model collaboration, coordination and issue management.
- Experience supporting the development of record models, record drawings and asset information through project handover.
- Experience working on live construction projects, supporting coordination, installation, commissioning and handover activities.
- Willingness to attend site and work within live project environments as required to support coordination, verification and project delivery activities.
