Job Description

Designer Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join our operations team in Dublin, supporting the delivery of major construction projects across a range of sectors.

This is a site-based delivery role suited to someone with strong electrical project management experience within M&E contracting, building services, industrial, commercial, healthcare, pharmaceutical, residential or mixed-use construction environments. The successful candidate will take ownership of electrical project delivery, working closely with site management, engineering, commercial, procurement, quality, safety, subcontractors and client-side stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required technical standard.

As Electrical Project Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating and driving the electrical scope from planning and procurement through installation, testing, commissioning and handover. You will manage project teams, oversee subcontractor performance, monitor progress against programme, resolve technical and commercial issues, and ensure all work is delivered in line with Designer Group standards, client requirements and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of electrical works on large-scale construction projects.
  • Manage site teams, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
  • Drive programme delivery, ensuring milestones are achieved and project risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Work closely with the Project Quantity Surveyor to manage commercial performance, cost control, variations and project reporting.
  • Support procurement planning, technical submittals, RFIs, material approvals and subcontractor coordination.
  • Review design information and work with engineering teams to resolve buildability, coordination and installation issues.
  • Chair and attend project meetings with internal teams, subcontractors, consultants and client representatives.
  • Monitor labour, materials, plant and resources to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Ensure works are completed in line with quality standards, commissioning requirements and handover expectations.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promote and uphold Designer Group's health, safety, quality and environmental standards at all times.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to lessons learned across projects.

Role Summary

This role is ideal for an Electrical Project Manager who enjoys fast-paced project delivery, strong stakeholder engagement and the challenge of delivering complex electrical installations across a variety of construction sectors. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership capability and a practical approach to project execution from pre-construction through to final handover.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in electrical project management within an M&E contractor, principal contractor or specialist electrical contractor environment.
  • Proven experience delivering medium to large-scale construction projects from construction through commissioning and handover.
  • Strong understanding of electrical building services, site installation, technical coordination and project delivery.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, supervisors, engineers and site-based project teams.
  • Ability to manage programme, procurement, RFIs, technical submittals, progress reporting and project risks.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to work closely with quantity surveying and commercial teams.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety requirements within live construction environments.
  • Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, delivery-focused environment.
  • High attention to detail, strong problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to issue resolution.
  • Ability to live and work in Ireland without requiring sponsorship.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience delivering projects within commercial, industrial, healthcare, pharmaceutical, residential, educational, public sector, mixed-use or infrastructure environments.
  • Experience working on projects with complex building services installations and multidisciplinary coordination requirements.
  • Experience with testing, commissioning, handover and project close-out processes.
  • Experience working with BIM, coordinated services drawings, technical submittals and design review processes.
  • Electrical trade background, engineering qualification or construction management qualification would be advantageous.
  • Experience working within a principal contractor, M&E contractor or major subcontractor delivery environment.
