Join our Supply Chain & Manufacturing Team

Supply Chain & Manufacturing is where our brands are made, moved and delivered to the world. With over half of our people working across more than 100 sites, this is a complex, large-scale operation that brings together production, logistics, engineering and supplier partnerships.

Role Purpose

The Primary Logistics Manager is responsible for leading safe, cost-effective, reliable and sustainable operations of Primary Logistics network for the beer category, ensuring the seamless movement of products from manufacturing sites to market destinations.

This role supports Diageo's purpose of "Crafting iconic drinks, chosen for life's moments" by delivering exceptional customer service, supply reliability, network performance, cost leadership, and sustainability outcomes across the end-to-end primary logistics network.

Scope

The primary logistics manager has responsibility for end-to-end logistics operation supporting Diageo's beer category. They will oversee the movement of product from four production sites through a complex logistics network comprising ports, rail, warehousing facilities, transportation providers, and third-party logistics partners.

The position is accountable for a network of approximately 20 primary and secondary warehouses, managing around 16,000 container movements through ports and12,000 bulk beer tanker movements annually. They will lead a team of 20+ and provides strategic oversight and operational governance for an extended workforce operating through third-party logistics partners.

As a key member of the Beer Category Leadership Team, logistics manager contributes to network optimisation, risk management, business continuity, and the delivery of service, cost, cash, and sustainability objectives across the supply chain.

Key Accountabilities

Customer Service

  • Deliver best-in-class customer service and supply reliability. Contribute to our ambition of being the number one supplier.

  • Build agility and resilience in logistics operations to support changing business requirements.

  • Collaborate with Planning, Manufacturing, Customer Service, and Market Supply teams to deliver excellence in execution.

Logistics Network Management

  • Ensure uninterrupted movement of goods across transportation, rail, port, and warehousing operations.

  • Optimize logistics flows and network performance to improve service and efficiency.

  • Monitor and drive key operational performance indicators.

  • Deliver annual productivity and logistics cost reduction targets.

  • Strengthen resilience across the logistics network through proactive risk management.

Cash & Inventory Management

  • Improve end-to-end lead times across the supply chain.

  • Support effective inventory and working capital performance.

  • Ensure synchronization of transportation, warehousing and port operations.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong partnerships with Manufacturing, Planning, Customer Service, Procurement, Finance, Sustainability, and Market Supply teams.

  • Develop collaborative and effective relationships with third-party logistics providers.

  • Ensure alignment on service, cost, inventory, sustainability, and operational performance objectives across all stakeholders.

  • Influence decision-making and drive cross-functional collaboration to achieve business priorities.

Key Success Measures

  • Effective supplier performance management with 3PLs.

  • No miss in Health, Safety, Quality, and Compliance performance standards.

  • >98.5% in-full delivery.

  • Meet/beat cost, productivity and cash goals.

  • Improvement in team morale

  • Sustainability target delivery.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

  • Proven track record of leading a team to deliver service, cost, cash, and productivity results.

  • Experience managing third-party service providers and strategic supplier relationships.

  • Knowledge of transportation and warehousing operations.

  • Experience working within complex, cross-functional, and multi-site environments.
