About this role 

A vital role in the Global Tax team for the completion of our external reporting obligations with respect to both Tax Reporting and CARM obligations. This role requires working with and influencing colleagues both in Global Tax but also the Group reporting and statutory reporting and compliance functions.
 

About you

This role sits in the Tax Reporting and Compliance team, focusing on RoW (rest of the world) and The Netherlands entities. It is critical in delivering the group tax external reporting requirements including our obligations under SOX. This role is also focusing on ensuring that European, African and APAC markets’ direct tax processes (including corporate income tax, suffered withholding tax and other supplementary returns) are undertaken accurately, efficiently (utilising automation and outsourcing where applicable), on time and the surrounding internal control procedures, legislative requirements are strictly adhered to.

The role sits in the Global Tax Team and works closely with the Group Controllers department, market finance team and regional tax compliance teams.

The scope for direct tax team includes 2 major parts:

- Direct tax reporting: è including internal and external reporting and reconciliation of return to group report differences, maintaining and managing deferred tax schedules and reconciliation, filling OTP tax provision and deferred tax schedules. (OTP- Diageo’s tax reporting system) Additional to the annual reporting, tasks include the Prior Year Adjustment (PYA) and P09 reporting processes for all RoW + the Netherlands reporting entities.

- Direct tax compliance: è activities such as corporate tax returns, GL reconciliation and supporting of the local tax manager based on the global agreement. To perform quality reporting of the entities in scope for this role, both the external and internal reporting will need to be monitored by this role. It will be required to interpret the impact of the changes in the business, taxation and reporting environment to tax reporting. There is a wide scope for exposure to key stakeholders within the Finance function. This role will need to effectively build up and manage relationship with GBO FC, statutory, local tax, treasury and central Tax FP&R teams. As Direct Tax Junior Manager, you will be assigned to a region (Africa, LAC, APAC, Europe and the Netherlands) within RoW, and will be responsible for the end-to-end direct tax tasks of that region. You will be

working with analysts, who will support you in delivering all the required tasks for both reporting and compliance deadlines. This role involves also supervision and review activities of the work of junior and senior analysts (L6A, L5C or L5B team members) who are responsible for the less complex entities.

· Strong accounting knowledge (ACCA qualification is an advantage – studies are supported)

· Strong understanding of IFRS accounting principles
