Accounting Associate

What is the Role?
The Accounting Associate is responsible for supporting core accounting operations and ensuring the integrity, accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting across a complex, multi-entity organization. This role plays a key part in maintaining strong internal controls, supporting key components of the close process, and partnering cross-functionally to drive operational efficiency and financial clarity across the organization.
Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Accounting Associate supports significant general ledger activities, account reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and close deliverables. The Associate will receive day-to-day training and guidance from the Accounting Manager, who will closely review the Associate’s work, particularly as the Associate develops proficiency in the role. The role also supports audit readiness, process documentation, and the continued improvement of accounting processes and systems.
What You'll Be Responsible For:
- Support day-to-day accounting operations, including the general ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, and other assigned accounting areas
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including coordination of assigned close activities, preparation of supporting schedules, and resolution of outstanding items
- Review and analyze balance-sheet and income-statement accounts, identifying period-over-period variances, unusual activity, reconciliation differences, and areas requiring investigation or corrective action
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for accuracy, completeness, appropriate classification, and adequate documentation, subject to review by the Accounting Manager
- Support intercompany and intracompany accounting, including charge-downs, due-to and due-from balances, settlements, and the timely resolution of differences across entities
- Coordinate with subsidiary finance teams to support consistent accounting, close timing, intercompany activity, and delivery of required financial information
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies and procedures, escalating complex or judgmental matters as appropriate
- Support internal controls to safeguard company assets and support audit readiness
- Support external audits by preparing schedules, responding to information requests, resolving questions, and maintaining complete and audit-ready documentation
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, FP&A, Tax, Treasury, Legal and other teams to support business initiatives and improve financial processes
- Support efforts to streamline and optimize accounting workflows, systems, and reporting accuracy
- Support the integrity of accounting master data, including general ledger accounts, departments, classes, entities, and financial reporting mappings
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes as needed
- Serve as a key resource for accounting guidance and problem-solving across the organization
- Manage assigned priorities and deadlines, incorporate review feedback, and communicate questions or issues promptly
What You'll Bring:
- 3-5+ years of accounting experience, with a strong foundation in general accounting and financial reporting, including experience within a complex, multi-entity organization
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required; CPA eligibility or progress toward CPA certification preferred
- Big Four or other large public accounting firm experience is a plus
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial controls, general ledger accounting, intercompany activity, and account reconciliations
- Experience supporting key components of the close process in a fast-paced environment
- Experience supporting consolidated financial reporting and working with multiple legal entities or subsidiaries
- Experience supporting external audits and preparing complete, well-organized, and audit-ready documentation
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to identify and support process improvements
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Experience working with accounting systems and ERP platforms, NetSuite and Concur preferred
