Job Description
Role Summary:
The Director of People & Culture is a member of the Agilec Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for developing and executing human resources initiatives that support organizational goals and drive workforce performance. This role oversees key HR functions including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, leadership development, workforce planning, and compliance with employment legislation.
The Director of People & Culture partners closely with senior leadership to foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture, while ensuring HR programs and practices effectively attract, retain, and develop top talent. Through strong business acumen and people leadership, the Director of People & Culture helps align human capital strategies with the organization's vision, growth objectives, and operational priorities.
Work Arrangement: This position operates on a hybrid model, combining remote work with on-site responsibilities. The role requires travel to multiple locations throughout Ontario, depending on business needs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals and growth objectives.
- Provide strategic advice and guidance to executive leadership on workforce and organizational matters.
- Lead talent acquisition, retention, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives.
- Oversee performance management systems and employee development programs.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaged workplace culture.
- Lead employee relations matters, including conflict resolution and workplace investigations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable employment legislation, regulations, and organizational policies.
- Manage compensation, benefits, recognition, and total rewards programs.
- Monitor workforce metrics and HR analytics to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Lead HR team development and ensure the effective delivery of HR services across the organization.
- Support organizational restructuring, change management, and transformation initiatives.
- Develop and manage the HR department budget and resource allocation.
- Lead organizational health, safety, and wellness programs, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
- Lead HR digital transformation initiatives to improve processes, reporting, service delivery, and the overall employee experience.
Qualifications
Education:
- Completed post-secondary diploma or degree from a recognized Canadian institute in Human Services Field or related field
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL)
Experience:
- Minimum four years of direct experience in Human Resources.
- Demonstrated career progression with strong leadership experience.
- Experience leading multiple HR functions within a complex, multi-site, or growing organization.
- Demonstrated success developing and implementing strategic HR initiatives.
- Experience supporting organizational change, workforce planning, and culture transformation.
- Experience advising senior leaders on people, organizational, and business matters.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the local, provincial, and federal labour markets.
- Knowledge of community and government resources.
- Strong knowledge of Employment, Human Resources, and Health and Safety legislation and compliance practices.
- Understanding of stages of team development.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Understanding of compensation, benefits, and total rewards programs.
- Experience with performance management and talent management frameworks.
- Ability to develop and lead Workforce planning and succession management initiatives.
- Familiarity with diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) practices.
- Experience with HR information systems (HRIS) and workforce analytics.
- Knowledge of current labour market trends and talent acquisition strategies.
