Job Description

Fairchild Imaging, headquartered in San Jose, California is a specialty image sensor design and manufacturing company with deep experience in developing leading edge performance CMOS image sensors. Our portfolio of image sensors can be found in many high-performance imaging applications like space exploration, medical x-ray, sciences, quantum computing, machine vision, low light, and 360 situational awareness.

We are seeking an experienced, strategic and business-oriented Director of Finance & Controller to serve as a key financial partner to the CFO and executive leadership of our U.S. technology manufacturing business, a subsidiary of a multinational organization.

This role is designed for a finance leader who can look beyond the numbers to understand the business, identify risks and opportunities, challenge assumptions, and provide financial insight that supports executive decision-making. The successful candidate will partner with leadership on business strategy, forecasting, investments, new business opportunities, pricing, profitability, and long-term financial planning.

At the same time, this individual will provide strong leadership over the Company's accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance activities. The position offers significant exposure to executive leadership and the opportunity to grow into broader financial leadership responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Finance & Business Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor to the CFO/VP Finance and executive leadership team.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Sales, and other functional leaders to evaluate business performance, opportunities, risks, and strategic alternatives.
  • Translate financial and operational data into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Lead and support annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, long-range planning, and business performance analysis.
  • Develop financial models, ROI analyses, and scenario assessments for new products, development programs, capital investments, pricing decisions, and other business opportunities.
  • Analyze revenue, margins, product profitability, costs, working capital, and cash-flow implications of business decisions.
  • Constructively challenge assumptions and help management evaluate alternative courses of action.

Accounting, Controls & Compliance

  • Lead accounting and financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close and preparation of financial statements.
  • Oversee inventory and cost accounting, revenue recognition, fixed assets, payroll, AP, AR, and general ledger activities.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, corporate accounting policies, and appropriate internal controls.
  • Coordinate external audits, parent-company reporting, and tax compliance with outside advisors.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, reporting, and ERP utilization.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and business planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to use financial analysis to influence significant business decisions and make recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Experience evaluating business opportunities, capital investments, pricing, profitability, and ROI.
  • Experience working directly with senior executives and cross-functional business leaders.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. corporate tax matters and experience coordinating with external tax advisors.
  • Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and Excel skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Manufacturing, semiconductor, electronics, aerospace, life sciences, or other engineered-product environment.
  • Inventory and cost accounting.
  • Multinational or subsidiary-company reporting.
  • NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
  • ASC 606 and ASC 842.

This position is Hybrid, which requires a blend of onsite and a remote working schedule.

The base salary range for this role is $230,000 to $250,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications. 

In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible to participate in the Company's annual incentive bonus program.
