QA Automation Engineer Intern

Farmers Mutual Hail (located in West Des Moines, IA) is currently looking for a qualified undergraduate to join our 2027 Summer Internship Program. This is a paid internship starting Monday, May 17 through Friday, August 6, working up to 40 hours per week for the summer, with the potential to turn into a full-time, permanent position in the future.
We are looking for currently-enrolled college students who are close to the West Des Moines area, as this is not a remote internship.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Must be a currently-enrolled sophomore, junior or senior at an undergraduate college or university, majoring in Computer Science or MIS; who has taken technical college-level courses. (May 2027 graduates will not be eligible).
Skills: Exposure to Java, SQL Queries, and Object-Oriented Programming concepts is a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with other experienced QA testers and the development team to understand the requirements, scope, and objectives for any new or modified functionality within the system.
- Creates new and updates existing test scripts, based upon the business requirements and technical specifications.
- Identifies bugs or unexpected behavior during testing, reports and documents issues found, and re-tests to satisfy expected behavior.
- Builds and maintains automated tests using automation framework/tooling in support of functional, regression, and smoke tests.
- Interacts and communicates with other IT department staff.
- Follows all IT department processes and procedures.
- Accomplishes other tasks and duties as assigned.
