Why this role matters
In your first year, you will become the trusted quality authority on our Santa Iria de Azoia site, ensuring every product meets the high standards our consumers expect. This role is essential to protecting Flora Food Group’s brand and consumer trust by managing product quality and compliance throughout production. You will work closely with multiple teams to reduce deviations and improve processes, directly impacting the food that reaches kitchens and tables. Your presence on the shop floor and ability to make informed, context-sensitive decisions will safeguard the integrity of our products and support our growth.
What you'll do
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for nonconformities, near-misses, and supplier deviations, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to resolve issues.
- Monitor quality indicators such as Right First Time, cost of non-quality, and customer complaints, translating data into continuous improvement plans.
- Champion the application and training of Product Quality Standards and process controls across production teams.
- Define acceptance criteria and quality protocols for new product launches, ensuring smooth introductions and consistent quality from day one.
- Prepare and support internal and external audits, maintaining full compliance with legal and company standards.
Performance
You will own the quality performance on site, driving measurable improvements in key indicators like customer complaints and Right First Time rates. Your data-driven approach will reduce waste and non-quality costs, ensuring that products consistently meet specifications. By building strong cross-functional relationships, you will accelerate deviation resolution and prevent recurrence, directly supporting operational excellence and consumer satisfaction.
Care
This role requires close collaboration with production, maintenance, logistics, procurement, research and development, and supplier quality teams. You will adapt your communication style to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, making decisions that balance rigorous quality standards with commercial realities. Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will contribute to a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, ensuring every decision is traceable and defensible.

About you
You bring solid experience in an industrial environment, ideally within food or fast-moving consumer goods, with hands-on shop floor exposure. Your background in Food Safety, Quality, or Industrial Engineering equips you to manage quality systems and data confidently. You are resilient and adaptable, able to reprioritise without losing focus, and you communicate clearly across different teams and levels. You understand that every quality decision protects the consumer and strengthens the brand.
You are genuinely interested in food culture and curious about how consumer behaviour and future food trends shape innovation. You understand that strong brands are built by anticipating what’s next in taste, nutrition, and functionality, and by translating insight into meaningful consumer experiences.

This role is a stepping stone to becoming an expert in quality, with opportunities to move laterally into central quality functions or related roles such as Food Safety Technician or Lab Supervisor. Growth typically occurs over several years as you deepen your expertise and leadership within the quality team.
