Our Engineering Team

You’ll join Fortastra’s Engineering Division, working at the intersection of software, cloud infrastructure, and mission security. Our cloud and DevSecOps stack underpins everything from simulation and CI/CD to mission tools, and must be secure, observable, and easy for engineers to use.

The Role 

Fortastra is seeking a DevOps Engineer with strong cloud and DevSecOps experience to build and operate our CI/CD, container, and cloud platforms. You will focus on reliability, automation, and security, enabling engineers to ship quickly while staying within well defined guardrails.

This role is primarily cloud and platform engineering, with security integrated from the start. You will own CI/CD pipelines, container infrastructure, IAM patterns, and environment provisioning in AWS and Azure, working closely with the Cyber Security Engineer to integrate security into workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines within a Git environment such as GitHub, Gitlab, Bitbucket for applications, services, and infrastructure.
• Architect and operate container infrastructure, including registries, orchestration, and deployment patterns using docker and kubernetes
• Implement and maintain Terraform based infrastructure as code across multi-cloud tenants.
• Lead IAM reorganizations and implement scalable account, role, and permission structures across environments.
• Create and onboard new cloud tenants into the existing infrastructure in a secure, standardized way.
• Integrate DevSecOps tooling into pipelines, including SAST, DAST, SCA, and container scanning, while optimizing for low friction.
• Partner with the Cyber Security Engineer to embed security guardrails into the platform without slowing down engineers.
• Act as an enablement engineer for development teams, helping them adopt best practices and use shared platforms effectively. 

Qualifications & Skills

• 5+ years of hands on DevOps, SRE, or cloud engineering experience, ideally with exposure to security and compliance.
• Strong experience with AWS and/or Azure, including environment setup, IAM, networking, and services commonly used in CI/CD and deployment.
• Hands on experience with GitLab CI and Terraform.
• Experience building and operating container-based infrastructure.
• Exposure to DevSecOps tooling and practices, and interest in working closely with security engineering.
• Background in defense, aerospace, or other high assurance environments is a plus.
• Steady employment history with evidence of owning and maturing DevOps platforms, rather than short stints.

The pay range for this role is $130,000.00 - $170,000.00. Where an offer falls within that range depends on factors like your qualifications, experience, location, and interview performance, which we weigh against the market rate for the position.
