Job Description

About Us

What if your work could drive change in a globally established industry, shaping processes that touch every corner of the world? At Forto, we are at the forefront of change, harnessing the power of AI to revolutionise logistics. We want to reinvent digital supply chains to be transparent, frictionless and sustainable. From day one, our mission has been to simplify global trade – creating a seamless and efficient logistics process.

Your role & Mission

As a Data Analyst on Forto's central Data Analytics team within Engineering, you will serve as the analytical engine of our data warehouse and semantic layer. Your mission is to design, build and safeguard the single source of truth that powers trusted reporting and AI-driven self-service across the organization. You will translate approved business logic into standardized, governed data models, working closely with Software Engineering, Data Engineering, and Product to ensure new features and workflows are correctly modeled while empowering decentralized analysts to leverage certified data.

What you will do

  • Build and maintain core data models — dimension and fact tables — that serve as the base layer for all downstream reporting and analytics.

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Software Engineering and Data Engineering throughout the product lifecycle — from upcoming system deployments to new feature rollouts — owning the downstream pipeline to ensure logic coverage and version compliance.

  • Translate approved business definitions and KPIs into the semantic layer, building business-logic-dense tables that serve as Single Source of Truth assets.

  • Safeguard data health by building automated data tests and conducting logic/data integrity audits on core metrics; monitor data quality and platform performance in collaboration with Data Engineering, including orchestration dependencies and pipeline timing requirements.

  • Support lineage and discovery documentation, mapping how data flows from source systems to business dashboards.

  • Build the technical foundation for AI-driven self-service analytics and help drive its adoption — ensuring the semantic layer is reliable enough to power automated, self-serve use cases across the organization.

  • Scale data velocity across the organization by equipping teams with the knowledge and guardrails to build independently — through training, cross-functional support, and PR review governance ensuring quality and alignment before deployment.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or data warehousing/modeling roles.

  • Strong hands-on SQL skills, with proven experience in dimensional modeling and semantic layer design.

  • Hands-on experience with dbt (or similar) for version-controlled, tested data transformation on a cloud data warehouse (e.g., BigQuery).

  • Skilled in building automated data quality tests, conducting logic integrity audits, and managing PR reviews for code quality and architectural alignment.

  • Ability to break down ambiguous business problems and connect them to the right data, models, and metrics — communicating that logic clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Comfortable collaborating with Software Engineers, Data Engineers, and departmental analysts on system design and data logic decisions, with a resourceful, ownership-driven approach to their own work.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience working in a fast-paced technology-enabled environment, with exposure to logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain domain logic.

  • Proficient in using AI-assisted development workflows to accelerate query design and data processing.

  • Understanding of orchestration frameworks (e.g., Airflow) and data lineage/observability tools (e.g., dbt docs, Monte Carlo).

  • Working knowledge of downstream BI/visualization tools (e.g., Data Studio).
