Job Description

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on HR Operations & Recruiting Specialist based in the San Francisco Bay Area to support our expanding robotics and AI data collection project.

In this dual-impact role, you will be the backbone of our local workforce. You will lead initial candidate screening for specialized Robot Teleoperator roles while managing the entire employee lifecycle—driving seamless onboarding, accurate shift-based payroll coordination, and daily HR administration.

If you are organized, know California employment basics, understand operational hiring, and thrive in dynamic technical environments, this role offers direct exposure to next-generation AI and robotics programs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Candidate Sourcing & Screening

  • Conduct structured phone/video screens for entry-level and technical operational roles (VR/Console Robot Teleoperators)

  • Assess candidate reliability, technical and gaming comfort, physical readiness (e.g., equipment handling/battery swaps), and availability for shift rotations.

  • Maintain an active candidate pipeline in the ATS, coordinate interview calendars, and extend conditional offers.

2. Onboarding & Compliance

  • Lead the end-to-end new hire onboarding process, ensuring high completion rates before day-one onsite training.

  • Oversee I-9 verification, E-Verify processing (including OPT, CPT, and work visa validations), background checks, and offer letter generation.

  • Coordinate training schedules, site access, and badge readiness with onsite operations leads in Mountain View/Burlingame.

3. Payroll Management & Time Tracking

  • Audit and collect shift timesheets, break logs, and overtime records for hourly operators across weekend and weekday shifts.

  • Manage bonus program tracking (performance and attendance incentives) and submit clean payroll files to the accounting/payroll team on schedule.

  • Address employee payroll inquiries, pay stub questions, and hour discrepancies promptly.

4. HR Administration & Employee Support

  • Serve as the main point of contact for day-to-day employee questions regarding attendance policies, benefits eligibility, and workplace guidelines.

  • Maintain organized, compliant digital personnel files and track probationary/90-day milestone evaluations.

  • Facilitate offboarding workflows, final pay calculations, and exit documentation in compliance with California labor standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2–4 years of combined experience in HR Operations, People Operations, or Technical/Operational Recruiting.

  • California Labor Literacy: Solid understanding of California wage-and-hour rules (meal/rest breaks, overtime calculation, paid sick leave, and final pay rules).

  • Work Authorization Familiarity: Practical experience with I-9 compliance and E-Verify processes (OPT, STEM OPT, H-1B, and student work authorizations).

  • Payroll & Time Tracking: Hands-on experience administering hourly timecards and working with payroll systems

  • Communication & Organization: Clear, proactive communication skills with the ability to maintain meticulous documentation across fast-moving shift teams.

  • Location: Based in the San Francisco Bay Area with the ability to travel locally to project facilities (Peninsula / South Bay) as operational needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting tech pilots, lab operations, manufacturing, or high-volume hourly workforce environments.

  • Exposure to the robotics, hardware, gaming, or AI data collection sectors.

What We Offer

  • Flexible Work Model: Remote setup with autonomy over daily task management.

  • Front-Row Seat to AI Innovation: Play a central role in staffing and organizing the teams training state-of-the-art robotic manipulation models.
