Supply Chain & Logistics Manager, US
Position Summary
The Supply Chain & Logistics Manager is accountable for GWT’s inventory systems, procurement and supplier management, logistics, and team travel. The role owns the end-to-end flow of materials, equipment, and people, from qualifying the suppliers GWT buys from, through receiving, storing, and controlling inventory, to shipping materials and deploying crews to manufacturing and field project sites.
The role is responsible for knowing what GWT’s supply chain costs. It builds and maintains the cost model for current materials, freight, and inventory, identifies savings, and gives leadership and estimating accurate material cost and lead-time data. Because GWT supports defense programs, the role ensures purchasing, supplier, and shipping activities comply with ITAR, EAR, DFARS, and AS9100 requirements. The role works independently and may direct the work of inventory, shipping, and receiving personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Inventory Systems and Control
- Own GWT’s inventory management system, including item master data, units of measure, locations, and transaction accuracy across all facilities and field kits.
- Establish and maintain reorder points, safety stock, and min/max levels for raw materials, consumables, tooling, and field equipment to prevent stockouts that affect production or deployments.
- Run cycle counts and annual physical inventory; investigate and resolve variances; report inventory valuation, turns, and carrying cost.
- Control shelf-life and storage-sensitive materials, including resins, adhesives, and prepreg, through cold-storage logs, out-time tracking, and first-expired, first-out (FEFO) rotation; disposition expired material.
- Maintain material identification and lot traceability from receipt to use, and segregate nonconforming and quarantined material in accordance with the quality management system (AS9100).
Procurement and Supplier Management
- Identify, vet, and qualify new suppliers, including capability and quality-system review, financial and risk assessment, restricted-party screening, and site audits where required.
- Maintain the Approved Supplier List; monitor supplier performance for on-time delivery and quality; issue and track supplier corrective action requests (SCARs).
- Issue and manage purchase orders with the required quality, regulatory, and customer flowdown clauses, including ITAR/EAR, DFARS, and cybersecurity (CMMC) requirements where applicable.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms; develop secondary sources for critical and single-source materials.
Supply Chain Costing and Analysis
- Map GWT’s current supply chain and build a total landed cost model by material and supplier, including purchase price, freight, duties, handling, carrying cost, and scrap or expired material.
- Conduct spend analysis by category and supplier; identify and implement cost-reduction and consolidation opportunities; report savings against baseline.
- Provide material cost and lead-time data to estimating, project management, and leadership for quotes, budgets, and project planning.
- Develop and manage the annual supply chain, freight, and travel budgets.
Logistics, Shipping, and Export Compliance
- Plan and manage inbound and outbound freight, domestic and international, including carrier selection, freight rates, customs brokers, and shipping documentation.
- Ship hazardous materials, such as resins and solvents, in compliance with DOT regulations (49 CFR) and IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations for air shipments.
- Coordinate the shipment of tools, equipment, and materials to field project sites so they arrive ready for crew mobilization.
- Support GWT’s export compliance program: confirm export classification and licensing with the designated Empowered Official before shipment, and keep export records as required by ITAR and EAR.
Team Travel and Deployment Logistics
- Book air travel, lodging, and rental vehicles for field crews and staff in line with project schedules and the GWT travel policy.
- Maintain a travel and deployment calendar; manage changes, cancellations, and extensions as project schedules shift.
- Track travel costs against project budgets and report variances to project management.
- Coordinate international travel requirements, including passports, visas, and export-control restrictions on laptops and technical data carried abroad.
General Duties
- Comply with all GWT, customer, and site environmental, health, and safety (EHS) requirements; stop work when conditions present a risk to safety, quality, or the environment.
- Follow GWT quality management system (QMS) procedures, including work instructions, records, and traceability requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area; in shop and field settings, this includes tool control, housekeeping, and foreign object debris (FOD) control.
- Participate in required safety, quality, and technical training and complete assigned development requirements.
- Protect company proprietary, customer, and confidential information, including export-controlled information where applicable.
- Travel to supplier facilities, warehouses, and project sites, domestic and occasionally international, up to approximately 15% of the time.
