Job Description

Join the Rest Revolution

The world is wired and tired. It's plagued by screens, notifications, and the sense that you should always be doing ... something. But hey, you're reading this job application right now, so you probably know exactly what we're talking about.

So here's a bit of good news amidst all the noise: Hatch is a sleep wellness company that's betting on rest in a culture obsessed with optimization. While most technology is designed to keep you engaged, our devices use the science of habit formation to help people unplug, unwind, and recharge. Through genuinely enjoyable routines, habit building, and gentle guidance (no sleep scores or wearables here), we help people build healthier sleep habits and feel the difference in everyday life.

More than a decade ago, we started with a mission to help parents navigate the complexities of newborn sleep. Today, we're helping more than 5 million people (and counting) take care of themselves and the people they love through the power of rest.

We’re open to candidates across the U.S. and Canada. However, please note that Hatch is based in California, so we just ask that you're available during PST/PDT hours.

The Opportunity

As a Sleep Consultant, you are the voice of Hatch’s sleep support. You will connect with caregivers through sleep chat in the Hatch Baby app, offering warm, personalized guidance that helps them understand their child’s sleep, choose realistic next steps, and feel supported along the way. You balance developmental accuracy with genuine care, and you are passionate about helping others and meeting every caregiver with empathy, especially during some of the most tiring moments of parenthood. We are hiring for multiple part-time positions, 20 hours per week on set shifts, M-F 7am-11am PT or M-F 11am-3pm PT. These are hourly, part-time roles.

What You’ll Do

Provide expert, personalized sleep guidance

  • Apply your knowledge of infant and child sleep development to give accurate, age-appropriate guidance aligned with Hatch’s approved approaches and resources.
  • Follow safe sleep guidelines and Hatch sleep training guidelines at all times.
  • Ask purposeful questions to understand each family’s challenges, routines, goals, and circumstances, and adjust your recommendations as new information emerges.
  • Help families put recommendations into practice, set realistic expectations, and troubleshoot obstacles.
  • Guide caregivers to relevant Hatch Baby sleep features and content, and explain how they support their goals.
  • Recognize when a concern is outside the scope of sleep support, including medical questions, feeding, and urgent situations, and refer families to their pediatrician or escalate through the appropriate channel

Communicate clearly and with empathy

  • Write warm, concise responses suited to a chat conversation, leading with actionable next steps and explaining your reasoning.
  • Respond to caregiver stress with validation, patience, and respect.
  • Build confidence without judgment, pressure, or promises of specific sleep outcomes.
  • Review all conversation history and context before responding.
  • Document key details, recommendations, and next steps so another consultant can pick up the conversation seamlessly.
  • Follow shared Hatch standards, and address differing recommendations thoughtfully to maintain trust.
  • Manage your conversations efficiently while maintaining quality, and meet established response time and customer satisfaction expectations

Who You Are

  • Passionate about helping others. You care about caregivers and love helping a family feel confident and rested.
  • Empathetic. You build trust without judgment, even when a family is stressed or exhausted.
  • A strong writer. You communicate clearly, warmly, and concisely in writing.
  • Detail-oriented. You keep accurate documentation and notice the details that matter in each family’s story.
  • Experienced with sleep. You have experience with infant and child sleep development and safe-sleep practices.
  • Resourceful. You dig into the root of each family’s challenge and use every resource available. You know when to ask for help and you stay flexible and resilient through change.
  • A team player. You follow team policies and processes, and meet your deadlines. You lend a hand, share what you know, welcome feedback, and contribute to team goals and discussions.

Nice to Have

  • Background in pediatric sleep consulting

No pediatric sleep consulting experience? We still encourage you to apply, training is provided!
