Software Engineer, Business Engineering
Almaty, Kazakhstan · Growth Engineering
Why this role exists
Higgsfield's Growth team runs on an internal platform. We need a Business Engineer to turn operational bottlenecks into software, from the data model and API to the screens the team uses every day. You own features through launch, adoption and production support.
What you'll actually do
Turn growth team problems into useful features. Define a small first release and build it across backend and frontend.
Own database schemas, query performance and safe migrations on a live database.
Build third-party integrations that handle API quotas, rate limits, retries and webhooks.
Make payment and messaging workflows safe to retry, without duplicate payouts or sends, and keep an audit trail.
Ship LLM features and measure quality, latency and cost per result.
Own environments, releases, monitoring, security and access. Share on-call responsibility.
Define success metrics, track adoption after launch and improve what you ship.
Must-haves
Production experience. You've built and operated backend systems and can explain your decisions, personal contribution and results.
Strong Python and full-stack delivery. You build backend services and React screens when a feature needs them.
Deep PostgreSQL knowledge. Data modeling, query plans, indexes, transactions, locking and migrations on live databases.
API security. Authentication, object-level authorization and role isolation. You prevent IDOR on reads and writes and test access as different users.
Hands-on operations. Linux, containers, CI/CD, monitoring and debugging production from logs. You can run what you build.
High agency and ownership. You find worthwhile problems, remove blockers and follow through without waiting for assignments.
Low ego. You welcome direct feedback, admit mistakes and change your mind with evidence.
Energy for an intense pace. The team ships daily, priorities shift and urgent production issues can need you outside regular hours.
Our tech stack
Languages: Python and TypeScript.
Backend: Python and Node.js services, REST APIs, background workers and scheduled jobs.
Frontend: React with server-side rendering.
Data: PostgreSQL and S3-compatible object storage.
Infrastructure: Linux, Docker and GitHub Actions CI/CD.
AI: LLM APIs from major providers.
Quality: Static typing, linters and automated tests in both languages.
Bonus experience: Influencer marketing, affiliate programs or creator payouts; large-scale YouTube data within API quotas; email outreach and deliverability; LLM evaluations, prompt regression sets and cost tracking.
Interview process
Recruiter screen: role expectations, logistics and fit.
Technical interview: a difficult system you shipped, what you personally decided and built, and how your work made the team more capable without leaving it dependent on you.
Practical task: a real problem from our backlog, under NDA. You design the data model and API, write the core of it and explain your trade-offs.
Product interview: turn a growth team problem into a small first release, decide what to leave out and explain how feedback would change it.
Offer.
