Job Description

As Information Design and Modelling Lead, you safeguard the structural integrity of WB’s data landscape. You are responsible for making data understandable, traceable, interoperable, and fit for reuse by ensuring that the information foundations behind products, platforms, and reporting are designed with precision. You bring the technical depth needed to turn architectural intent into robust information structures, enabling delivery teams to build on consistent models, trusted definitions, and scalable data patterns.

The Team
The WB Business and Information Design Unit serves as the strategic design authority of the WB CDO organization. The unit translates ING’s global data strategy, frameworks, and regulatory requirements into coherent end-to-end target state designs across Wholesale Banking.

The team ensures that data, business, and technology architectures are aligned, standardized, and scalable, enabling consistent implementation across domains, platforms, and delivery. It enables regulatory-compliant, future-proof solutions by embedding data management, governance, and control requirements by design.

Within WB CDO, the team integrates strategy and execution by providing design principles, blueprints, and architectural oversight that guide tribes, product areas, and regions toward a unified operating model. At the ING Global CDO level, it drives adoption of enterprise standards and ensures WB architectures remain aligned with global direction, advancing data maturity through disciplined design, coherence, and continuous evolution of the target data landscape.

Roles and Responsibilities
As Information Design and Modelling Lead, you will:

  • Define and govern WB’s target-state information architecture, including logical and physical data models, semantic standards, taxonomies, structures, and modelling frameworks.
  • Translate conceptual and target-state architecture into implementable data designs, ensuring model fidelity from concept through delivery.
  • Embed metadata, lineage, data quality, governance, regulatory, and control requirements into information models and data design standards.
  • Align Business, Enterprise, Domain, and IT Solution Architecture on data models, schemas, integration patterns, and platform implementation standards.
  • Resolve cross-domain modelling inconsistencies by harmonizing definitions, semantics, data flows, structures, and reusable patterns across domains and regions.
  • Provide technical design assurance through architecture boards and delivery forums, intervening where model integrity, interoperability, lineage, or implementation fidelity are at risk.
  • Evolve information architecture practices, tooling, standards, and capabilities to improve scalability, reuse, traceability, and maturity across WB.

Success Factors
We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you remain curious. Keep learning. Take responsibility. In return, we’ll support you in becoming an even better version of yourself.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A Master’s degree or equivalent in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Architecture, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in information architecture, data modelling, solution design, or large-scale data platform implementation.
  • Deep expertise in logical and physical data modelling, semantic modelling, metadata management, taxonomies, and enterprise modelling standards.
  • Strong understanding of data flows, schemas, integration patterns, platform architectures, and reusable data structures.
  • Proven ability to translate conceptual and target-state architecture into precise, implementable, and traceable data models.
  • Strong capability to embed lineage, governance, data quality, regulatory, and control requirements into model design.
  • Experience resolving cross-domain modelling inconsistencies and harmonizing definitions, semantics, structures, and reusable patterns.
  • A quality-driven mindset focused on model integrity, standards adherence, interoperability, scalability, and implementation fidelity.
  • Strong communication skills in English with the ability to explain complex models and architectural decisions to technical and senior stakeholders.
