Full-Stack Engineer - Broker Terms Team
Full-Stack Engineer - Broker Terms Team
Hybrid in London, United Kingdom
We're looking for a Full-Stack Engineer to join the Broker Terms team.
You’ll build the systems behind every offer iwoca makes through brokers, and see your work in the terms each business gets.
The company
Small businesses move fast. Opportunities often don't wait, and cash flow pressures can appear overnight. To keep going, and growing, SMEs need finance that's as flexible and responsive as they are.
That's why we built iwoca. Our smart technology, data science and five-star customer service ensures business owners can act with the speed, confidence and control they need, exactly when it's needed.
We've already cleared the way for 100,000 businesses with more than £4 billion in funding. Our passionate team is driven to help even more SMEs succeed, through access to better finance and other services that make running a business easier. Our ultimate mission is to support one million SMEs in their defining moments, creating lasting impact for the communities and economies they drive.
The team
Broker Terms is a growing team that owns the full offer terms strategy for businesses that come to iwoca through a broker – both first-time and repeat customers. It sets pricing, loan amounts, durations, and broker commissions, and owns the offer user interface (UI) brokers use in the Introducer Portal. The broker network is iwoca's biggest acquisition channel, and the team is directly responsible for the terms that win those customers.
The team is small and interdisciplinary – commercial strategy, engineering and data science. It turns business questions into quantitative problems, and findings into timely decisions. It works on short-term gains and longer-term bets, and judges both by Customer Lifetime Value – what a business is worth to iwoca across all its borrowing.
There are no fixed office days, and the team meets up for lunch once or twice a month.
The role
As a full-stack engineer in Broker Terms, you'll make changes across iwoca's codebase wherever they'd improve an offer. Most of it is backend – the code that calculates each offer's terms – with some frontend on the UI where brokers see them.
You'll own features and projects from scoping and design through to production, and choose how to build them. You'll help decide what goes on the team's roadmap. You'll learn from the team's experienced engineers, and from the people who price broker offers.
The team is light on process – a daily stand-up, a weekly meeting and regular retrospectives – and you'll have a say in how it works. Brokers see your changes in the Introducer Portal, and A/B tests show you which ones raised Customer Lifetime Value. Your work helps businesses get the funding they need.
Live project examples:
Model-based pricing. Developing the systems that let a model set bespoke pricing for each customer.
No-fee test. Testing how the product performs without drawdown fees, and how that changes the way customers repay.
Loan durations. Building longer-duration Flexi-Loans with flexible repayments.
Offer display. Improving how offers appear to brokers and customers – a better journey, and easier testing for the team's data scientists.
Commission systems. Upgrading iwoca's broker commission systems.
The requirements
Essential:
Backend engineering. You've designed and built backend systems that run in production, ideally in Python, Django and PostgreSQL. You've modelled their data with performance and maintenance in mind.
Frontend engineering. You've built and maintained user interfaces in production, ideally in TypeScript and React.
Ownership. You've taken features end to end, and kept them working once people relied on them.
Trade-offs. You've weighed delivery speed against the long-term health of a system, and can explain what you chose and why.
AI leverage. You've built agentic workflows, or used AI to scale your engineering output beyond what you could deliver alone. You judge when to use it and when not to.
Communication. You write and speak clearly, directly, and concisely. You adapt technical detail to your audience.
Bonus:
DevOps. You've used containers and CI/CD pipelines to deploy your code.
Experimentation. You've worked on A/B tests or other experiments, and used the results to decide what to build next.
Product thinking. You've found the business need behind a feature request, and planned the technical work to meet it.
Financial services. You've worked on lending, payments or pricing systems.
The salary
We expect to pay from £60,000 to £85,000 for this role. But, we’re open-minded, so definitely include your salary goals with your application. We routinely benchmark salaries against market rates, and run quarterly performance and salary reviews.
The culture
At iwoca, the best idea wins. We model our culture on independent thinking, challenging untested logic, and evidence-based decisions. We prioritise learning and growth, and give people the autonomy to develop in the direction that makes them most effective.
We're a tech company and believe in the power of AI to help us work faster and better. We provide the infrastructure where every iwocan always has access to the best models and where those models have access to all of our data. We will help our people to learn how to use and grow with the new tools available to them.
The offices
We put a lot of effort into making iwoca a great place to work:
