Job Description

About the Role

Hey, I'm Liam, Group PM for Communications at Jane. I'm a New Zealander who's called Vancouver home for over 8 years, and outside of work you'll find me doing all the classic Pacific Northwest things: 50+ ski days a year, with the rest filled by hiking, biking and beaches (a sign of my Kiwi roots). I've spent most of my career building communications products in healthcare, and the rest in marketing automation. I came to Jane for the chance to shape the future of Jane and healthcare communication, and nine months in, both the opportunity and my excitement have only grown.

This role exists because we have a roadmap that's about to get more ambitious. Today, a clinic can run nearly every part of their business in Jane, but many of the ways they communicate with patients still happen outside of it - and that's where you come in, shaping how we close that gap. While you'll contribute to some of our existing domains, like our Notifications Centre, your main focus will be on net new areas like new channels.

Jane's AI strategy builds on our mission to help the helpers, and most of our customers are solo practitioners who look to Jane to run as much of their clinic as possible. Communicating with patients and staying responsive is one of the biggest demands on their time, which puts Communications at ground zero for that strategy - and shaping how we help clinics stay on top of it will also be a core part of your role.

Our group is full of zero-to-one builders who are helping to shape the future of Jane and of healthcare, and you'll play a key role in that. You'll own a problem space end-to-end and take new products from idea to launch, but you won't be doing it alone - we've built a culture of collaboration where everyone, engineers included, helps shape the outcomes we focus on and the work that gets us there. If that sounds like your cup of tea, and you like to work hard, be kind, and have fun while you're at it, you'll be in great company - and I'd love to meet you.

What Impact We’re Looking for You to Make

  • Own a problem space within Communication from discovery and customer research through to shipping and GTM commercialization. You'll bring clarity to new, ambiguous areas and use good judgement to make decisions, knowing when there's enough information to move forward and when it's worth digging deeper.

  • Collaborate closely with partners beyond the PM, designer and engineer trio, including support, product marketing and communications design. At Jane, these partners play a core role in shaping our product, so you'll bring them in early and work with them throughout.

  • Work in the details, side by side with your engineers and designer, because this isn't a strategy-only role. Much of our work is zero to one, so you'll get tactical: refining edge cases, working through trade-offs, testing early prototypes and iterating until the solution is right.

  • Shape how we leverage AI in Communications in support of our group's mission and Jane's. You'll partner with the teams driving Jane's broader AI strategy, building on what they're creating and helping influence where it goes next, because it's not something any one group can do alone.

  • Partner with the design and engineering leads on your team to define the customer problems you're solving and the expected outcomes. Together, you'll build a roadmap around them and make the calls on what to prioritize, what to try first and what to say no to, bringing others along with you as you go.

  • Consistently solve problems that matter to our users, working backwards from each one to a right-sized solution that makes a difference for our customers and for Jane. You'll know our customers and the competitive landscape so well that you become the go-to expert in your space

What Experience We Need

  • 5+ years of product management experience in a SaaS company, including taking a product from 0-to-1. You've spotted an opportunity, won buy-in for it and shaped the plan to bring it to market, from deciding how to validate early ideas through to wider testing like betas, and built the confidence needed to commercialize it.

  • Experience leading planning and strategy work, from shaping a longer-term vision for your space to breaking it into clear priorities. You're a confident facilitator who is comfortable running workshops to explore problems, shape ideas and reach decisions.

  • A track record of shipping products that made a clear difference for customers, rather than a company-wide revenue number you contributed a slice of. You're comfortable defining what success looks like and using data to guide your decisions along the way.

  • Experience shipping AI-powered products and features that solve customer problems, and across the wider company, where you've helped influence a broader AI strategy by building alongside other teams rather than going it alone.

  • You've worked with a broad group of partners and built alignment in a fast-moving environment without slowing things down. You're skilled at communicating complex problems and solutions clearly and bringing senior leaders and other stakeholders into your thinking, which is core to how Jane works. For example, every week, there's a forum where anyone can share their work and get feedback from company leadership

  • If you've worked in communications, healthcare, AI or adjacent spaces like marketing automation, built SMB or B2C products, or navigated a regulated environment, that's a plus, but not required to apply.

"If you don't meet every single qualification but are excited about this role, we'd still love to hear from you."
