JOB SUMMARY
JOE runs on its people, and the systems behind them should be just as good. We're looking for a Product Owner to own People Technology - the platforms, integrations, and data that power People operations across every JOE market. You'll own the strategy, the portfolio, and the outcomes for the domain, working side by side with the Head of People Technology, who defines what the organisation needs and why - you own how it gets built. No direct reports, plenty of influence. The role reports to the VP of Product and is a full time role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own the People Technology vision, strategy, and roadmap, turning the People strategy into a sequenced portfolio of builds, integrations, and improvements
- Decide what the domain invests in and in what order, making trade-offs explicit and defending them with senior stakeholders
- Own the People data layer, making sure People data is accurately surfaced in Snowflake for workforce analytics and Finance reporting
- Partner day to day with the Head of People Technology, translating their priorities into product decisions, integration architecture, and delivery outcomes
- Lead discovery with the People team, HR administrators, and store and area managers, validating value before build capacity is committed
- Keep HR system integrations reliable, auditable, and aligned with ITGC controls as part of our IPO readiness programme
- Partner with Legal, Finance, and IT Security on GDPR, data residency, and audit requirements
- Protect run-the-business capacity, reserving deliberate roadmap space for reliability and operational debt
- Make reliability measurable through clear KPIs, monitoring, and observability that catch problems before the People team does
WHO YOU ARE
- Comfortable in ambiguity, defining scope as much as executing against it
- Leads without authority - teams align because the direction is clear and compelling, not because of reporting lines
- Holds themselves accountable to outcomes rather than outputs
- Flies at the right altitude, moving between portfolio strategy and hands-on backlog work as the situation demands
- Treats compliance as part of the design, not an afterthought
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Solid product management experience owning a domain or portfolio, not just a backlog
- Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms, system integrations, and data flows
- A track record of prioritising across competing initiatives and communicating trade-offs to leadership
- Experience working in a matrix, delivering through engineering teams you do not manage
- Familiarity with GDPR, ITGC, or other audit-driven environments is a strong plus
- Experience in a scaling, multi-market organisation is an advantage
