Job Summary
We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate backend services and SaaS platform capabilities.
This role is for an engineer with strong expertise in Java, distributed systems, cloud technologies, and software design who embraces an AI-native approach to software development.
You will contribute to architecture decisions, lead moderately complex technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and remain actively involved in implementation. You will leverage AI coding tools, including Claude Code, throughout the software development lifecycle, including system understanding, solution design, implementation, testing, debugging, code review, documentation, and modernization efforts.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support Java-based services, APIs, and distributed applications
- Lead technical implementation of medium-to-large engineering initiatives within a product area
- Participate in architecture and design discussions and contribute to technical decision-making
- Remain hands-on through coding, troubleshooting, code reviews, testing, and production support
- Leverage AI coding tools such as Claude Code to improve development efficiency and software quality
- Apply AI-assisted techniques for code generation, testing, debugging, documentation, and codebase exploration
- Help establish best practices for responsible use of AI-generated code
- Contribute to modernization of legacy systems through refactoring, automation, and AI-assisted development workflows
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Security, and Architecture teams to deliver scalable solutions
- Support cloud-native architectures, microservices, integrations, and shared platform capabilities
- Drive improvements in performance, reliability, observability, security, and maintainability
- Mentor Software Engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and collaborative development
- Evaluate new technologies and engineering practices that can improve product quality and team productivity
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that automate build, testing, security scanning, deployment, and release processes
- Partner with DevOps and platform teams to improve deployment reliability, release velocity, and developer experience
- Promote engineering best practices around continuous integration, continuous delivery, infrastructure automation, and release management
- Drive adoption of automated quality gates, test automation, and deployment validation within software delivery pipelines
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of software engineering experience building SaaS applications, distributed systems, or enterprise platforms
- 4+ years of experience developing backend services using Java
- Strong coding skills with demonstrated experience designing, implementing, debugging, and supporting production software
- Experience leading significant technical projects or major features from design through production
- Experience building and operating systems on AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Experience with code reviews, software design, testing strategies, and engineering best practices
- Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted coding tools as part of software engineering workflows
- Ability to leverage AI effectively for development, testing, debugging, documentation, and productivity improvements
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals and ability to validate and improve AI-generated code
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in modern software development environments
- Strong understanding of continuous integration, continuous delivery, automated testing, release automation, and deployment best practices
- Experience with source control and CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar technologies
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Claude Code or similar AI coding tools
- Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Hibernate, Kafka, or similar technologies
- Experience with cloud-native, microservices-based, or event-driven architectures
- Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle
- Experience contributing to modernization or migration initiatives
- Experience improving observability, testing, reliability, and operational excellence
- Experience integrating AI-enabled capabilities, LLMs, agents, or AI services into software products
- Familiarity with modern AI engineering concepts such as LLM APIs, tool use, agents, RAG, evaluation, and prompt engineering
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines for microservices and cloud-native applications
- Experience integrating security scanning, quality gates, automated testing, and observability into deployment pipelines
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools
