Job Description
SUMMARY
Perform ophthalmology services in the Refractive Laser Center. Assist with all aspects of patient care including but not limited to screening and checking-in patients, escorting them to treatment areas, and performing initial medical screening of patients including history, distance and near visual acuity with and without correction or pinhole, pupillary light reflex, applanation tonometry and manifest refraction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform refractive surgery services. When the services are not required, or the technician's services are more urgently required elsewhere, the technician may be assigned by the Chief of Ophthalmology Services or designated representative to provide support in ophthalmology.
- Assemble, maintain, and operate medical, diagnostic, and therapeutic equipment.
- Perform ophthalmic studies including autorefraction, keratometry, tonometry, visual field test, pachymetry, ophthalmic photography, and be able to establish a sterile field and assist with minor surgical procedures.
- Accurately prepare room and patient for examinations, therapeutic measures and procedures assuring all needed equipment and supplies are available prior to the start of the exam.
- Take, monitor, and record physiological measurements.
