Position Overview:
Every day, it is great people at KIPP that prove the possible. KIPP St. Louis Long Term Paraprofessionals provide classroom support and small group instructional care to students, but more specifically, students that require high needs support.
Paraprofessionals assist and support the teacher(s) in implementing an instructional and care program to promote academic achievement and personal development in our Kindergarten classrooms. They will work alongside our Teacher Aides in supporting our high needs Kippsters.

Inputs: What will I be doing in my day to day work?
Escorts, assists, and/or supervises student(s) during play periods, movement throughout the building, to and from
Establish and maintain strong communication with all parents and share progress
Outcomes: What will I be evaluated on?
Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacher buses, toileting routines, lunch, snack, specialized and inclusive classes, community activities and other times as designated
What skills should I already bring, i.e., what should I already have a track record around?
Embraces feedback and constructive criticism in the spirit of constant improvement
Collaborates with content and grade-level teams to promote an environment of critical thinking and academic rigor
What should I know a lot about already, i.e., what should I have expertise in?
Maintains accurate and up-to-date records
Communicates high expectations for behavior by teaching, practicing and reinforcing rules and consequences
KIPP uses Indicators of Excellence (IOE) to codify what great looks like in daily work. For this role, the IOEs include:
Works to become knowledgeable about best practices in working with students with learning disabilities and challenging behavior
Participate in school-wide and individual professional development
Participates actively in developing and following through with individualized learning plans and behavior plans for students
Assists in the daily functioning of the school as necessary
Focusing on supporting kindergarten students that example a high focus of support based on their social and emotional need
Qualifications
What you bring to the table:
Preferred
Paraprofessional Certification
Experience working with students that have special needs
Bachelors degree from an accredited 4 year, university or college
Required
Substitute Certification
A high school diploma or GED and 60 hours of college credit

As a result, salaries are not negotiated. We are transparent about salaries in our job postings so that candidates can make an informed decision before beginning the hiring process. Starting salary for first-year teachers with a bachelor’s degree is $50,500.
