We are collaborating with a leading banking institution in the search for a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to join its team in Luxembourg.

This is a strategic leadership role for a senior technology executive with extensive experience in financial services. The position reports to the Country General Management team and works closely with senior stakeholders to drive technology strategy, operational excellence and digital transformation initiatives across the organisation.

Your Mission

As CIO, you will be responsible for defining and executing the bank's technology roadmap, ensuring that IT capabilities support business growth, regulatory requirements and operational efficiency within a highly demanding financial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Define, implement, and continuously evolve the organization's technology strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and global priorities.

• Ensure the availability, performance, security, and resilience of all information systems and technology infrastructure.

• Lead digital transformation and technology innovation initiatives to improve operational efficiency, client experience, and business competitiveness.

• Collaborate closely with business leaders to identify opportunities for digitalization, automation, and process optimization.

• Oversee technology budgets, investments, resource allocation, and long-term technology planning.

• Manage relationships with technology vendors, strategic partners, and external service providers.

• Lead cybersecurity, technology risk management, business continuity, and operational resilience programs.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, governance, and technology requirements within the banking and financial services sector.

• Drive enterprise architecture initiatives, platform modernization programs, and the adoption of emerging technologies.

• Establish and maintain robust IT governance frameworks, policies, procedures, and controls.

• Lead and develop multidisciplinary technology teams, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on technology, innovation, cybersecurity, and digital strategy matters.

• Collaborate with international teams to ensure consistency and alignment of technology initiatives across jurisdictions.

What We Are Looking For

Experience

• Proven experience in senior technology leadership roles within the banking, financial services, or other highly regulated sectors.

• Previous experience as Chief Information Officer (CIO), Head of IT, IT Director, or a comparable executive-level position.

• Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and managing technology organizations at a strategic level.

• Strong track record in technology transformation, IT operations, cybersecurity, governance, and large-scale project delivery.

• Experience managing technology budgets, suppliers, and complex stakeholder environments.

• Experience working in international or multinational organizations is highly valued.

Technical & Industry Expertise

• Extensive knowledge of:

  • IT infrastructure and operations

  • Enterprise applications and architecture

  • Information security and cybersecurity

  • IT governance and risk management

  • Vendor management

  • Technology transformation and innovation

  • Business continuity and operational resilience

• Strong understanding of regulatory and technological requirements applicable to the banking and financial services industry.

• Knowledge of private banking, wealth management, or specialized financial services is considered a strong advantage.

Languages

• Fluent Spanish and English, both written and spoken.

Location

• Availability and willingness to relocate to and reside in Luxembourg.
