Job Description
Located in the heart of Downtown Seattle, KPFF's Seattle office is home to a collaborative team of engineers, planners, designers, and support professionals working on a diverse range of infrastructure and building projects throughout the region. We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Cost Accountant to support the financial management and successful delivery of projects across multiple disciplines. This role partners closely with project managers, technical staff, and leadership to oversee project financial performance, maintain accurate project accounting records, and provide meaningful financial insights that support informed decision-making. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, professional environment.
Under minimal supervision, the selected individual will perform a variety of project accounting and financial administration functions, helping ensure projects are set up, monitored, and closed out efficiently while supporting the overall financial health of the office.
Individuals in this role will be expected to confidently perform tasks similar in nature to the following:
- Process and track client billing invoices in an accurate and timely manner
- Read contracts and interpret billing requirements
- Project setup, including bill structure, rate and classification information
- Payables entry of sub-consultant invoices
- Create cost reports in BST 10 Global accounting software
- Project cost reporting for clients with special requirements
- Manage accounts receivables on projects
- Work closely with Project Coordinators and Project Managers for reporting and invoice approvals
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- AA degree with accounting/finance emphasis
- Minimum 2 years related billing experience
- Solid understanding of basic accounting process
- Proficient in MS Excel and Office Suite
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently or in a team and take initiative
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with BST 10 Global accounting system
- Experience in an Engineering firm (or other Professional Services firms)
- Experience in billing with Public Works Agencies such as WSDOT, King County, Sound Transit and SDOT
Additional Information
Physical Demands:
- Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.
- Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
- Occasionally visiting project locations and performing field inspections which may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.
- Traveling to project sites or client meetings, which may involve driving or flying.
Compensation:
The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills. The expected range for a qualified candidate is $35.00 to $39.00 hourly.
