Job Description
The Toolroom Machinist / Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing our Plastic Injection molds to support manufacturing and achieving quality standards.
Essential Functions
- Ability to troubleshoot various issues on plastic components (Gas traps, voids, weld lines, pin push, etc.)
- Must work shift hours 2:30pm to 11:00pm plus applicable Overtime when available.
- Disassembles and assembles molds, analyzes and solves mold problems including flashing conditions, galling, venting, cooling problems, Assembles, repairs, inspects, cleans and polishes molds using skill and care while handling
- Understand blueprints, sketches, general instructions to disassemble, inspect, repair, and assemble plastic injection molds
- Perform highly critical assembly operations, refitting, re-venting or making adjustments as necessary to the mold to achieve designed objectives
- Answers technical questions from Manufacturing departments as required
- Maintains equipment maintenance, and repair history records, details of work performed, parts replaced, and the labor hours, as required
- Operate machine shop equipment (Mill, Surface grinder, Lathe)
- Constructs and repairs machine shop tools, gauges, fixtures, jigs or dies
