Lead Clinical Pharmacist, Oncology Programs
About Leap
Leap is one of the fastest-growing benefits solutions and a category-defining pioneer in employer specialty pharmacy. We are reshaping how life-changing therapies are delivered and financed, ensuring patients get the treatment they need while employers finally get a fair deal.
Specialty drugs and infusions represent nearly 10% of all healthcare spend and are the fastest-growing cost category for employers. Leap tackles this challenge with a novel approach: eliminating hidden markups, expanding access to high-quality infusion providers, and bringing clarity and fairness to how therapies are priced and paid for.
We’re proud to partner with numerous Fortune 500 companies and leading TPAs. Each patient we serve creates immediate ROI: lower costs, improved access, and better care. Join us as we redefine what’s possible in specialty care.
About the Role
The Lead Oncology Pharmacist is Leap’s accountable clinical owner for oncology, overseeing individual cases and building the clinical standards needed to safely support appropriate patients in the home or an ambulatory infusion center (AIC).
You’ll join an early-stage oncology program, establish its clinical model, and serve as Leap’s clinical counterpart to oncologists and cancer centers. This role reports to the Sr. Director, Clinical Strategy and Affairs and partners closely with Clinical Operations, Manufacturer and Specialty Pharmacy Relations, and Customer Success.
Key Responsibilities
Oncology Clinical Program Oversight
Own and evolve Leap’s oncology clinical model, including patient eligibility, therapy-specific guardrails, lab and treatment-clearance requirements, monitoring, and escalation standards.
Evaluate oncology therapies for Leap’s Specialty Drug List and define appropriate patients, regimens, and administration settings.
Maintain alignment with applicable clinical guidelines, professional standards, and FDA labeling.
Case-Level Clinical Oversight
Review every oncology case before initiation and reassess as treatment or clinical status changes, considering regimen, prior tolerance, labs, monitoring needs, and patient-specific risks.
Serve as the oncology clinical escalation point for Care Guides, nurses, and pharmacy partners, coordinating with the treating team when clarification or additional safeguards are needed.
Define symptom surveillance and adverse-event escalation pathways, including delayed immune-related reactions, and use safety findings to improve care.
Provider Clinical Engagement
Lead clinician-to-clinician discussions with oncologists and cancer centers, including complex cases and site-of-care appropriateness.
Develop provider-facing clinical materials and education that build confidence in Leap's oncology model.
Build relationships with priority oncology practices and clinical champions.
Clinical Standards and Program Development
Define nursing competencies, administration requirements, documentation standards, and provider communication expectations for Clinical Operations and Network partners to operationalize.
Translate case-level learnings into improved protocols, workflows, Care Guide standards, and program design.
Use case experience, provider feedback, and quality measures to refine the program and guide expansion.
Represent Leap clinically with pharmacy partners, manufacturers, clients, and other external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required
PharmD, active U.S. pharmacist license, and BCOP certification.
Completion of a PGY2 oncology residency or at least three years of oncology practice experience.
Substantial direct clinical experience in an oncology infusion center, inpatient oncology, home infusion, or oncology specialty pharmacy with direct patient-care responsibilities.
Strong clinical judgment and the ability to communicate clinical reasoning credibly to oncologists.
Experience building clinical programs, protocols, or care pathways and translating them into operational workflows.
Ability to work independently and build a program where the clinical and operational playbook is still developing.
Preferred
Experience developing oncology site-of-care programs or transitioning appropriate patients to home or AIC care.
Home infusion experience, including nursing capabilities, lab coordination, treatment clearance, and communication with the treating team.
Experience in oncology quality improvement, specialty pharmacy, managed care, or payer site-of-care strategy.
