Job Title: Sr. Engineer, Equipment
Job Summary:
Senior Equipment Engineer will improve the reliability, efficiency and productivity of battery manufacturing equipment. This role analyzes equipment performance, identifies root causes of breakdowns, leads equipment improvements and works across teams to implement safe and sustainable equipment solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), downtime, micro-stops, breakdown maintenance, yield, and line balance; develop and implement improvement plans
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Design and review production work orders involving programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and support equipment-control modifications
- Install, modify, troubleshoot, repair, test, and commission tools, machines, and production equipment across processes such as winding, assembly, and formation
- Research, evaluate, and implement new equipment and manufacturing technologies
- Plan and coordinate daily maintenance, equipment modifications, and continuous-improvement activities with Production, Process, Quality, Maintenance, Controls, and other teams
- Provide technical guidance to other engineers, delegate work orders as appropriate, and train team members who share equipment responsibilities
- Complete required documentation and audits; maintain a clean, organized work area in accordance with 5S/3R standards
- Follow all safety, PPE, cleanroom, and environmental requirements and help maintain a safe workplace
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or a related field
- At least seven years of equipment engineering experience in a production or plant environment
- Experience with production equipment, manufacturing processes, equipment troubleshooting, and performance analysis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Wear required personal protective equipment including but not limited to glasses, helmet, shoes, vests and gloves
- Work scheduled shifts of up to 12 hours
- Regularly lift, push, or pull items weighing up to 35 pounds
Skills:
- Ability to analyze and process equipment data and communicate findings to technical and operational teams
- Programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
- Design of experiments (DOE)
- 2D/3D computer-aided design (CAD) software and coding
- Six Sigma certification or practical Six Sigma Application
