Lactation Consultant- PT- Days @ LHAAMC

Position Objective:

Conducts bedside lactation rounds daily and consults with mothers having breastfeeding problems.

Essential Job Duties:

1. When providing breastfeeding support and teaching to breastfeeding patients and families utilize knowledge of personality, counseling skills, and family and group theory.
2. Consistently and thoroughly assesses patients/families to collect data and identify learning needs according to established standards and policies.
3. Develops and individualizes a breastfeeding plan of care for each mother-baby couple in accordance with established standards, appropriate prioritization of problems/needs, and mutually agreed upon goals.
4. Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of the breastfeeding plan of care, making revisions and recommendations based on analysis of patient responses to interventions.
5. Participates appropriately in communication and decision-making activities of the lactation services and the maternal-child health service.
