Job Description

This role leads Mattel's Communications and PR function across the entire Latin America region, our second-largest international market. The role provides strategic leadership for enterprise communications, executive communications, corporate reputation, issues management, including PR in support of our manufacturing facility in Mexico, PR in support of govt relations priorities, and integrated Brand & Franchise PR.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead Mattel's Communications function across LATAM, providing strategic direction across enterprise communications, executive communications, corporate reputation and integrated Brand & Franchise PR and select internal communications.
  • Develop and execute regional communications strategies that align corporate, commercial and brand priorities while supporting Mattel's business objectives across the diverse LATAM markets.
  • Serve as the strategic communications advisor to regional leadership, providing counsel on reputation, executive visibility, issues management, and business communications.
  • Oversee Brand & Franchise PR across LATAM, ensuring communications strategies support Mattel's portfolio of brands, Consumer Products, Location-Based Entertainment and entertainment initiatives.
  • Lead communications for Montoi manufacturing facility as related to proactive and crisis communications.
  • Create and execute PR plans and results in support of govt affairs programs that help drive the growth of Mattel in LatAM.
  • Lead the planning and integration of corporate and brand communications, ensuring opportunities are amplified through one coordinated external voice.
  • Direct regional PR agency network governance and communications standards while providing oversight of campaign strategy, execution and measurement.
  • Lead crisis communications and reputation management across the region, partnering with global and regional stakeholders to manage issues effectively, particularly at the plant level and in close collaboration with government affairs in the region.
  • Build and develop the LATAM Communications team through direct management of the Senior Public Relations Associate, providing coaching, development and performance leadership.
  • Foster collaboration across Global Communications, regional functions and local markets to improve consistency, operational effectiveness and communications capability.
  • Champion innovation through adoption of modern communications practices, measurement frameworks and AI-enabled communications tools.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Engineering, Finance, Actuarial Science, Business, or related fields.
  • 5-7 years of experience in Business Intelligence/Business Analytics/Commercial Planning or related roles.
  • Background in toys, technology, or retail (combination preferred). Regional experience in matrix organizations (MX/BR).
  • A similar position in an international FMCG firm is considered a plus.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to analyze data and provide innovative solutions and actions.
  • Advanced storytelling and strong executive communication.
  • Dealing with ambiguity & resilience.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail & adaptability.
  • Ability to work and communicate with stakeholders at different levels of the organization.
  • Results oriented, winning mentality, competitive, strong will to succeed.
  • SQL (advanced).
  • Data & BI: Tableau; Google BigQuery & Google Cloud; IBM Cognos; Alteryx; Dataprep; ThoughtSpot; Microsoft 365
  • Data Governance (advanced); Data Quality (intermediate, preferred).
  • Excel (advanced) with macros, Power Query, Power Pivot.
  • Agile methods (Scrum/Kanban, preferred)
  • Generative AI (intermediate, preferred)
  • Python (Nice to have)
  • Fluent in Spanish & English.
  • GCP (Google Cloud)
