About the project

Milanote is launching a new YouTube series called The Work Behind The Work.

The series goes behind the scenes of top creative projects and tells the stories of how they were made. We’re interested in the early versions, false starts, details, decisions and unexpected turns that sit behind iconic works that people already know and love.

Our goal is to create a must-follow YouTube channel for creative people: designers, writers, filmmakers, photographers, makers, and anyone curious about how great creative work comes together.

About the role

We’re looking for a host to be the face of The Work Behind The Work.

You’ll help guide viewers through the stories behind remarkable creative projects. This isn’t about being the world’s foremost expert on every subject. We’re looking for someone with genuine curiosity: the kind of person who finds something fascinating, goes down the rabbit hole, and can’t wait to bring others along.

You’ll be comfortable on camera, but more importantly, you’ll have taste. The series is about craft and obsession, so we’re looking for someone who cares about the work people put into making things—without taking themselves too seriously.

The role will involve hosting documentary-style YouTube episodes, working closely with our talented production partners and the Milanote team. Filming will take place in Los Angeles, so you’ll need to be based in the LA area or willing to travel there for shoots.

We’re initially producing a small number of episodes, with the potential for this to become an ongoing series.

You might be a great fit if you

• Are a natural storyteller with warmth, curiosity and a clear point of view
• Feel comfortable speaking to camera in a way that feels engaging and unforced
• Have an interest in creative work, design, film, photography, art, culture or making things
• Can make a complex idea feel accessible without oversimplifying it
• Notice the details and enjoy learning how things are made
• Have some experience creating, presenting or appearing in video content—whether professionally or through your own projects
• Are based in the Los Angeles area, or can travel to LA for filming

We’d especially love to hear from people who are involved in a creative practice of their own.
