Associate Director, Commercial Operations

POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate Director Commercial Operations will support commercial decision-making and execution through robust forecasting, commercial insights, market research, competitive intelligence, and effective sales operations.
Key areas of responsibility include commercial forecasting, Sales Incentive Plan management, Veeva CRM administration and field-force support, territory design, segmentation and targeting, Sales Force Effectiveness, as well as the coordination of market research and competitive intelligence activities.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on Commercial Operations professional with strong analytical capabilities, sound commercial judgment, and excellent business partnering skills. As a collaborative team player, this person will work closely with Brand Leads, Country General Managers, Commercial and Sales Leadership, Finance, Market Access, Medical, and external partners in a dynamic, entrepreneurial biotech environment.

This position requires an onsite presence in Zug, offering the opportunity to be deeply integrated into Mirum’s company culture. Remote working is permitted in accordance with Mirum policy and as agreed with the reporting manager.
JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Forecasting & Business Planning
- Lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of commercial forecasting models across brands and countries.
- Partner with Country General Managers, Brand Leads, Finance, and Commercial Leadership and facilitate the creation & update of country level mid & long-range forecasts
- Ensure forecasts are transparent, assumption-driven, well documented, and aligned with Finance and Commercial Leadership.
- Identify key forecast risks and opportunities and provide clear recommendations to support business decisions.
Market Research & Competitive Intelligence
- Partner with Brand Leads and Commercial Leadership to define research and competitive intelligence priorities aligned to key business questions.
- Develop research briefs, select methodologies, manage RFPs, evaluate vendor proposals, and oversee projects from briefing to final delivery.
- Support qualitative and quantitative research including market assessments, customer insights, patient journeys, ATUs.
- Monitor competitive landscape across public sources (competitor activity, clinical trials, regulatory updates, congresses, investor materials, market access developments, and commercial signals).
- Translate findings and competitive developments into actionable commercial implications for brand strategy, forecasting, launch planning, and decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with internal legal, procurement, compliance, and pharmacovigilance requirements.
Sales Operations
- Manage Sales Incentive Plans for country sales teams, including plan design, target setting, performance tracking, calculation, reconciliation, communication, exception management and coordination of payouts in partnership with key stakeholders.
- Own the commercial administration of Veeva CRM for Mirum International, including users, territories, targeting lists and relevant field configurations; provide first-level support and coordinate testing and roll-out of system enhancements with US counterparts.
- Support territory design, field-force deployment and roster management, ensuring alignment with market potential, patient populations, referral pathways and commercial priorities.
- Support & facilitate segmentation and targeting process, translating strategic customer priorities into actionable target lists, call plans and CRM execution.
- Develop Sales Force Effectiveness KPIs and provide insights on territory performance, customer coverage, reach/frequency, CRM adoption and field execution.
- Support field-force onboarding, CRM training, launch readiness and continuous improvement of Sales Operations processes and governance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education /Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master a plus, preferably in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Sciences or a related field.
- >5 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech or life sciences Commercial Operations, Sales Operations, Commercial Excellence or a related function.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in commercial forecasting and working with senior commercial stakeholders, experience with Veeva CRM administration, Sales Incentive Plans, territory alignment, segmentation and targeting, and field-performance reporting, Experience in managing market research projects and generating competitive insights.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced Excel and forecasting model development skills.
- Hands-on experience administering Veeva CRM/Salesforce.
- Strong analytical capabilities and experience developing commercial dashboards and visualizations, preferably using Power BI.
- Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud-based data platforms is a plus.
- Ability to work with commercial datasets including sales, account, CRM, market access, market research and performance data.
- SQL knowledge and familiarity with VBA, Python and effective use of AI-enabled tools are desirable.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical secondary data, claims, prescription, CRM and/or patient-level data is beneficial.
- Collaborative, hands-on team player with strong business partnering skills; comfortable operating in ambiguity, challenging assumptions and thinking creatively.
